ImpactMonahan found Yegor Chinakhov late in the third period for the Blue Jackets' lone goal of the game. It continues a strong start to the year for Monahan, who has two goals, three assists, 16 shots on net and an even plus-minus rating over five contests in a top-line role. As long as the center is seeing significant minutes at even strength and on the power play, he'll be a decent depth option for fantasy managers.

The 23-year-old Chinakhov was initially questionable for Saturday's game after sustaining a lower-body injury while blocking a shot in Tuesday's game against Florida, but the injury hasn't cost him any time. He saw a season-high 21:11 of ice time with the Blue Jackets dressing 11 forwards and seven defensemen Saturday. Chinakhov is off to a strong start this year with three goals, four assists, 17 shots on net, six hits and a plus-5 rating through five contests.

ImpactThe Blue Jackets didn't get on the board until there was 1:25 left in regulation, giving Tarasov almost no help. The 25-year-old put in a decent performance in the best of his three starts so far this season -- he won the other two but allowed four goals in each of those victories. The 25-year-old netminder figures to see No. 1 usage as long as Elvis Merzlikins (upper body) is out of action. The Blue Jackets' next game is Tuesday versus the Maple Leafs.
