ImpactShepard's reassignment is the result of Charlie Lindgren (back) being ready to return Sunday as Darcy Kuemper's backup. The 27-year-old Shepard made one start for Washington this year, allowing four goals on 22 shots in a 6-4 win over the Devils.

The 29-year-old netminder has played just one game this season, allowing four goals on 35 shots in a loss to Pittsburgh in the Capitals' opener. With Lindgren set to return, Hunter Shepard has been sent back to AHL Hershey.
