Impact Marner has done his share of playmaking during a five-game point streak, logging a goal and six assists in that span. This was his first power-play point since Oct. 21 -- he went six games without one. For the season, the 27-year-old has two goals, 12 helpers, 36 shots on net, four PIM and an even plus-minus rating through 13 appearances in his usual top-six role.

Impact Marner is riding a four-game, six-point streak (one goal, five assists), but it was his first goal in nine games, and his second of the season. Breathe easy, fantasy managers. He did the same thing last season and eventually caught fire. Marner scored five goals in his first 20 games last year and still ended up with 26 goals and 85 points over 69 regular-season games. Marner is one of the league's elite, plain and simple.

Snags assist in win Marner logged an assist and went plus-2 in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Kraken.
Impact Marner has continued his excellent playmaking with five helpers over his last three games. All of those assists have come at even strength. The 27-year-old concludes a strong October with one goal, 11 assists, 29 shots on net and a plus-1 rating over 11 appearances. Marner has never shot under 10 percent in a full season -- while he's best known for playmaking, he can score too and should make gains in the goal column over time.

Impact Marner leads the Maple Leafs with 10 points, including nine assists, in nine games. But his minus-3 rating is an odd outlier. Marner has been a Selke-worthy forward for years, with a combined plus-83 over the last four seasons. Maybe it's simply an adjustment to his new coach Craig Berube. We expect things to rebalance, but Marner might underperform a little short term while he figures it out.

Impact Marner has three multi-point games across Toronto's last four contests, and even though he's only scored once in that span, he's making his presence felt as a playmaker. The 27-year-old has recorded at least 59 assists in each of the last three seasons and seems on pace to reach that mark once again, though fantasy managers would expect an uptick in the scoring column given his role as a top-six forward.

He is in a position of strength in negotiations based on his Selke-caliber play and elite scoring. Marner has 639 points, including 194 goals, in 576 games since coming into the league in 2016-17.

Focused on season, not new contract Marner, who is in the last year of his current deal, declined to discuss contract at Wednesday's season-opening media availability, reports Sportsnet.ca.
Impact "I'm not here to talk about that. I'm here to talk about the season and getting going," said Marner. Despite putting up gaudy numbers in eight seasons in Toronto (639 points in 576 games, including 85 in 69 in 2023-24), he and Leafs have not seen playoff success. And Marner has borne the brunt of fan ire as a result. At times in the past, the pressure seemed to get to the hometown kid. But Marner enters camp focused and poised for a massive contract season after prepping for the season by working out with Hart-trophy winners Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon. MacKinnon has been quick to share that Marner "stuck out as one of the best" during the workouts. His first century season could be on the horizon.
