Rafael Harvey-Pinard - May play Saturday Harvey-Pinard (lower body) is being evaluated daily and will make the trip to Boston on Saturday, Jean-Francois Chaumont of Le Journal de Montreal reports.
Impact Harvey-Pinard sat out Thursday's tilt versus Vegas. Harvey-Pinard showed his goal-scoring ability last season with 14 goals in just 34 contests but has yet to find the back of the net in 13 games this season. He will likely be a game-time decision Saturday.

Jordan Harris - Ready to return Harris (upper body) has been medically cleared to return to the lineup and could play Saturday in Boston, per Jean-Francois Chaumont of Le Journal de Montreal.
Impact Harris has missed the last two games. He suffered the injury against the Bruins on Nov. 11 but managed to play the following night versus Vancouver, before missing the last two contests. Harris has three assists and 27 blocked shots in 15 games this season.

Arber Xhekaj - Not practicing Friday Xhekaj (upper body) is missing from practice Friday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Impact Xhekaj was injured in the second period Thursday against the Golden Knights and did not return. The defenseman has lots of fantasy value if your league uses PIM and hits as categories as he has 47 and 41 respectively in just 17 games. He is questionable at this time to play Saturday versus Boston.

Brendan Gallagher - Whistled for costly penalty Gallagher had one shot on goal, one hit and four penalty minutes in Thursday's 6-5 loss to Vegas.
Impact Gallagher was a non-factor for much of the game, but his double-minor with just under three minutes left was the biggest moment of the game. The Golden Knights scored power-play goals on each end of the double minor to take a 6-4 lead. This was the second consecutive game in which Gallagher took a penalty late with the game on the line. He also had a third-period hooking call that gave the the Bruins a 5-on-3 advantage last Saturday, but Montreal survived that and won in overtime. Gallagher, who has 10 PIM over the last five games, is third on the team with 18 PIM.

Gustav Lindstrom - Points in two straight Lindstrom had an assist, one shot on goal and two blocked shots over 12:06 of ice time in Thursday's 6-5 loss to Vegas.
Impact Lindstrom remained in the lineup as Jordan Harris upper body) was unavailable again, and the fill-in blueliner recorded a second point in as many games. He scored Montreal's lone goal in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to Calgary.

Michael Pezzetta - Slides nifty assist Pezzetta had an assist, two blocked shots and one hit over 7:17 of ice time in Thursday's 6-5 loss to the Golden Knights.
Impact Montreal's fourth line provided a pair of goals Thursday, both by Jesse Ylonen. On the second of those goals, Pezzetta retrieved a puck behind the net then slung a nifty backhand pass to Ylonen for the Canadiens' fourth goal. Known more for his grit than ability to generate scoring chances, it was the type of play rarely seen from Pezzetta. He has three points over 13 games.

Cole Caufield - Provides late assist Caufield had an assist, one shot on goal and one hit over 15:52 of ice time in Thursday's 6-5 loss to Vegas.
Impact Caufield showed shot, drawing attention from goalie Adin Hill and Vegas defenders, before sliding a pass to Justin Barron for Montreal's final goal with 54 seconds left. While he was on the ice when Montreal was pressing for two goals in the final 72 seconds, Caufield had a significant reduction in TOI in the third period and finished the game with season-low ice time. That may have been due to the ebbs and flows of the game, but it comes at a time when the forward is mired in a scoring slump (one goal in last nine games).

Justin Barron - Closes gap late Barron scored a goal on two shots, blocked three shots, delivered two hits and had a two-minute penalty over 22:12 of ice time in Thursday's 6-5 loss to Vegas.
Impact The Canadiens pulled the goalie and were pressing to score two goals late, when Barron closed the deficit to one. He was positioned in the high slot, stick cocked and ready to fire, and finished a feed from Cole Caufield. That he was on the ice in that situation is a telling sign that Montreal head coach Martin St. Louis believes in the offensive potential Barron showed last season (15 points, 39 games). The defenseman has four tallies on 13 shots (30.8 SH%) and five points over 14 games.

Johnathan Kovacevic - Logs first point Kovacevic had a goal on one shot and blocked one shot over 21:27 of ice time in Thursday's 6-5 loss to the Golden Knights.
Impact Kovacevic filled space in the slot and was in position to take advantage of a blocked shot to rifle his first goal. In fact, it was his first point since a tally Apr. 8 of last season. The stay-at-home blueliner is typically not involved on offense and has 16 points over 98 career games in the NHL.

Nick Suzuki - Back on scoresheet Suzuki logged two assists, two shots on goal and one blocked shot over 19:55 of ice time in Thursday's 6-5 loss to Vegas.
Impact Suzuki worked hard to halt a two-game scoreless run, winning a pair of puck battles along the boards and behind the net to set up Montreal's first score seven minutes into the game. The Habs' captain also had a hand in the second goal three minutes later, then nearly had a tying goal in the game's dying seconds, but Vegas netminder Adin Hill managed to get a glove on it. Suzuki has not been hurt by head coach Martin St. Louis' decision to break up him and Cole Caufield. He has five points in the five games since the coach's decision and is up to 15 points in 17 games.

Michael Matheson - Slides two helpers in loss Matheson had two assists, four shots on goal, three blocked shots, two hits and two penalty minutes over 28:08 of ice time in Thursday's 6-5 loss to the Golden Knights.
Impact Matheson had the secondary helpers on Montreal's first and last goals, and the blueliner is on a roll with seven points over the last five games. He's logging heavy minutes (24:56 TOI per game) on the top pair and quarterbacks the power play, which sets up Matheson for new career highs in scoring. He's at 14 points through 17 games, and while that pace may not be sustainable, 40 points is within the range of likely outcomes. His career high was set last season when he recorded 34 points in 48 games.

Cayden Primeau - Needs a little help from friends Primeau made 36 saves in a 6-5 loss to Vegas on Thursday.
Impact Primeau wasn't the problem -- he needed help from his teammates, and as Habs' coach Martin St. Louis said after the game, "We shot ourselves in the foot a lot." Primeau was coming off a sharp win over Detroit on Nov. 9, but the the Golden Knights are a far better team. There's little need to carry Primeau on your fantasy roster unless you're in a deep dynasty.

Alex Newhook - First goal in 13 Newhook had a goal and an assist Thursday in a 6-5 loss to the Golden Knights.
Impact He put Montreal up 1-0 with a wrist shot from the right circle at 6:43 of the first period. Newhook came to Montreal with much promise and high hopes, but he has struggled to find his stride. The goal was his first in 13 games, and he has just four goals and five assists in 17 games. Newhook may develop into a top-six player, but right now, he's unlikely to score more than 40-45 points.

Jesse Ylonen - Two-goal surprise Ylonen scored twice Thursday in a 6-5 loss to Vegas.
Impact Ylonen did a lot with 7:22 of ice time -- he wired four shots and laid one hit, and showed off his quick hands and great release on both snipes. His first was especially sharp -- he fired a wrist shot that beat Adin Hill glove side on a second-period breakaway. Ylonen is a young speedster whose ice time has dropped below 10 minutes a night after he sat in the press box early in November. He has potential, but right now, he's not getting the right ice to show off his skills.
