Joel Armia - Dealing with upper-body injury Armia is considered day-to-day after sitting out Monday's practice.
Impact Armia should be available for Opening Night on Oct. 11 versus Toronto, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports. The 30-year-old Armia earned seven goals, seven assists, 69 shots on net and 37 hits in 43 appearances last campaign. He is expected to occupy a bottom-six spot in the lineup this season.

Impact Per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports, Lindstrom should be available for Opening Night on Oct. 11 against Toronto. Even if the 24-year-old Lindstrom is ready for Montreal's season opener, he is slated to serve as an extra defender going into the 2023-24 campaign.

Alex Newhook - Out with upper-body issue Newhook is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
Impact Newhook, who didn't take part in Monday's practice, is expected to be available for Opening Night on Oct. 11 against Toronto, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. As a member of the Avalanche last season, Newhook recorded 14 goals and 30 points in 82 games. The 22-year-old forward was traded to the Canadiens in June, and he is projected to occupy a middle-six role this season.

Stanislav Demin - Released from PTO Montreal released Demin on Saturday from his professional tryout agreement.
Impact Demin will report to training camp with AHL Laval. The 23-year-old blueliner notched three goals and 16 points in 37 games for Merrimack College last season.

Lias Andersson - Lands on waivers Andersson was placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to AHL Laval.
Impact Andersson signed a two-way deal with Montreal in the offseason after playing just one game with Los Angeles last season. The 24-year-old forward had an impressive year with AHL Ontario, however, tallying 31 goals and 59 points in 67 games. If Andersson clears waivers, he'll serve a depth role with Montreal in the 2023-24 campaign.

Philippe Maillet - Lands on waivers Maillet was waived Sunday for the purpose of assignment to AHL Laval.
Impact Maillet accounted for 22 goals and 31 assists in 66 games for Magnitogorsk Metallurg of the KHL last season. The 30-year-old forward could spend most, if not all, of the 2023-24 campaign in the minors.

Kaiden Guhle - Scores short-hander Guhle scored a short-handed goal, blocked four shots and delivered one hit in Saturday's 3-1 preseason loss to the Maple Leafs.
Impact The Canadiens took advantage of an offensive-zone faceoff on the penalty kill, when Guhle snuck in from the point on the off-side and beat Martin Jones stick-side with a wrister. He's appeared in three of four preseason games and is preparing to be part of the top pair when the regular season opens. The 2020 first-round pick paired with 2023 first-round pick, David Reinbacher, on Saturday in what was a glimpse of future seasons. Following the game, Reinbacher was loaned to HC Kloten of Switzerland's National League.
