Jake Evans - Gets assist in loss Evans notched an assist in Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Bruins.
Impact Evans set up the second of Brendan Gallagher's tallies in the contest. The 28-year-old Evans is once again playing in a bottom-six role to begin 2024-25. He has one shot on net, two hits and one blocked shot in addition to his assist through two contests. Evans has narrowly missed the 30-point mark in two of the previous three seasons, but that's not enough to make him an option in standard fantasy formats.

Oliver Kapanen - Enters lineup, posts assist Kapanen had one assist and one shot on net in Thursday's 6-4 loss to Boston.
Impact Kapanen, who was a healthy scratch in Wednesday's season opener, replaced Emil Heineman on the fourth line. The assist was the first point for the 21-year-old Kapanen, who may bounce between Montreal and AHL Laval this season.

Josh Anderson - Pockets first goal Anderson scored a goal on two shots and had four hits in Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Bruins.
Impact Anderson changed the trajectory of a Kaiden Guhle shot from the point midway through the third period to make it a 5-3 score. The forward must be relieved to have scored this early in the season; Anderson did not find the back of the net until the 24th game of the 2023-24 season. He scored just nine times (6.4 shooting percentage) over 78 games last year.

Cole Caufield - Strikes again Caufield scored a goal on three shots and picked up two penalty minutes in Thursday's 6-4 loss to Boston.
Impact Caufield scored his second goal in as many games when he found an unattended spot near the goal and finished a feed from Kaiden Guhle. Montreal's shot leader (314) in 2023-24 has seven SOG through two games and should see ample shooting opportunities while skating on the top line and first power-play unit.

Lane Hutson - Shows off offense in loss Hutson recorded two assists, one on the power, one shot, two blocks and two penalty minutes in Thursday's 6-4 loss to Boston.
Impact Hutson showed off his offensive potential with two first-period assists. He now has four points in four career NHL games. The rookie is averaging more than 20 minutes per game, including 6:42 on the power play.

Kaiden Guhle - Helps twice in loss Guhle had two assists, two hits, three blocked shots and finished plus-3 in Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Bruins.
Impact Guhle picked up a pair of primary helpers for his first points of the season. He spotted Cole Caufield alone near the net that resulted in Montreal's second goal of the first period and later his shot from the point was tipped home by Josh Anderson. Guhle usually doesn't bring much offense to the fantasy game.

Joel Armia - Logs two helpers in loss Armia recorded two assists, one on the power play, two shots, one hit and two penalty minutes in Thursday's 6-4 loss to Boston.
Impact Armia had a hand in both of Brendan Gallagher's goals. He's never delivered on the promise of being a first-round draft pick in 2011, but Armia is coming off a career-high 17-goal season and has been handed a top-six role while skating on the second power-play unit to open the season.

Impact Gallagher got the scoring started early when he redirected Joel Armia pass by Jeremy Swayman in the first period. He later found a soft spot in Boston's defense and finished a feed from Jake Evans to make it a 5-4 game late in the third period. Gallagher has opened the season on the third line and second power-play unit.

Impact Primeau faced a team motivated to turn the page on a poor effort in Tuesday's loss to Florida, and that showed in the first period when Boston put 13 shots on net and scored three times. However, Montreal didn't play like a team on the second night of a back-to-back and made it close before Primeau allowed a softie late.
