Simon Benoit - Returned to AHLThe Maple Leafs sent Benoit back to AHL Toronto on Thursday.
ImpactBenoit was a healthy scratch Wednesday in the Maple Leafs' 6-5 shootout win over Montreal. The 25-year-old defenseman played 78 games with the Ducks last season, scoring three times and adding seven assists with 216 hits and 128 blocked shots.

Arber Xhekaj - Whistled early, oftenXhekaj had an assist, three hits and 17 penalty minutes in Wednesday's 6-5 shootout loss to Toronto.
ImpactXhekaj is no stranger to the physical side of hockey and wasted little time mixing it up. All three penalties -- two minutes for instigating a fight, five minutes for fighting and a 10-minute misconduct -- were assessed in the first period for his brawl with noted tough guy Ryan Reaves. He later produced an assist in the third period, when his shot from the point was tipped in by Alex Newhook. Xhekaj had 159 hits and 101 PIM over 51 games in 2022-23.

Kirby Dach - Helps twice in lossDach had two assists, three shots on goal and three hits over 21:22 of ice time in Wednesday's 6-5 shootout loss to the Maple Leafs.
ImpactThe Canadiens' second line produced two goals and five points on the night. Alex Newhook struck twice, and Dach was the secondary helper on both. The 2019 third-overall draft pick by Chicago resurrected his career after joining Montreal last season, when he registered 38 points in 58 games. Dach will be give top-six minutes and is expected to skate with other first-round picks, Newhook (16th overall, 2019) and Juraj Slafkovsky (first, 2022).
