The 26-year-old has 31 goals, 52 points, 255 shots and 112 hits this season. Last year, he set new career highs with 35 goals and 76 points. Meier carries a $6 million cap hit and will be due for a raise when he becomes a restricted free agent this offseason. New Jersey will likely want to begin working on an extension as soon as possible.

Akira Schmid - Set to start Saturday Schmid is expected to start at home against Philadelphia on Saturday.
Impact Schmid has a 5-4-0 record, 2.24 GAA and .919 save percentage in nine games with New Jersey in 2022-23. He also has a 2.53 GAA and a .908 save percentage in 20 contests with AHL Utica this season. Schmid was summoned by New Jersey on Tuesday because Mackenzie Blackwood is dealing with a lower-body injury. This will be Schmid's first NHL game since Jan. 5, when he stopped 14 of 18 shots in a 5-3 loss to St. Louis. The Flyers are tied for 28th offensively with 2.67 goals per game this season.

Dawson Mercer - One goal, two franchise marks Mercer scored a goal Saturday in a 7-0 win over the Flyers.
Impact Mercer put the Devils up 3-0 with one minute left in the second. He wired a one-timer from the slot off a nice feed by Nico Hischier from the right corner. It extended his goal streak to six games and eight snipes. At 21 years and 121 days, Mercer is the youngest player in Devils/Colorado Rockies/Kansas City Scouts history to score in six straight games. He also set another franchise mark -- Mercer has played in 141 consecutive games, surpassing Scott Gomez for the most consecutive games to begin an NHL career in franchise history.
