It comes as the veteran netminder is undefeated in regulation over his last four outings, posting a 3-0-1 record, 2.47 GAA and .914 save percentage. Even with the strong run of form, Varlamov probably shouldn't be expected to steal the starting gig away from Ilya Sorokin.

Niko Mikkola - Assist ends lengthy droughtMikkola earned an assist in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Islanders.

ImpactMikkola's 11th helper of the season ended his 29-game pointless drought. He earned the secondary assist on a second-period goal by Aleksander Barkov. The 27-year-old Mikkola has three goals, 14 points, 56 PIM, 175 hits and 113 blocked shots across 73 appearances this campaign while occupying a middle-pairing role.

Aaron Ekblad - Heavy workload in returnEkblad (lower body) failed to record a point in 22:13 of ice time during Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Islanders.

ImpactReturning from a seven-game absence caused by a collision with Vladimir Tarasenko, Ekblad saw his usual workload and was leaned on heavily on the penalty kill, seeing 7:47 with Florida down a man. It's been a tough season overall for the 28-year-old blueliner, who has only four goals and 17 points in 48 games, but with the Panthers having already clinched a playoff spot, Ekblad will use the final weeks of the regular season to try and regain his top form.

Aleksander Barkov - Two points in Thursday's lossBarkov produced a goal and an assist in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Islanders.

ImpactThe 28-year-old center's efforts gave the Panthers 1-0 and 2-1 leads, but they couldn't solve Semyon Varlamov over the second half of the game. Barkov has a goal and three points in two games since returning from an undisclosed issue that cost him three contests, and on the season he's collected 19 goals and 69 points through 64 games.

Anthony Stolarz - Win streak ends at sixStolarz stopped 21 shots in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Islanders.

ImpactFlorida twice grabbed one-goal leads, but Stolarz couldn't protect either one before being beaten by Jean-Gabriel Pageau midway through the second period for what proved to be the winner. The 30-year-old netminder saw his six-game win streak come to an end as he took his first loss since Feb. 6, and Stolarz hasn't given up more than three goals in an outing since Jan. 15, going 8-3-0 over 11 games since then with a 1.80 GAA and .937 save percentage.

ImpactThe 33-year-old helped set up a Ryan Pulock tally in the first period and a Mathew Barzal goal in the second. Cizikas hadn't had a multi-point performance since Feb. 29, and on the season the checking-line forward has only eight goals and 19 points through 60 games.
