Impact Smith ended a four-game slump with the helper. He has just five points (four goals) over 14 contests since the start of December. The winger is at 17 points, 57 shots on net, 30 hits, 23 blocked shots and a minus-1 rating through 36 appearances. The Rangers have reunited Smith with Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider, but the lines are likely to continue to shuffle until something pulls the team out of its rut.

Mika Zibanejad - Earns 700th career point Zibanejad scored a goal on four shots in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Bruins.
Impact The opening tally was Zibanejad's 700th career point. It's the second milestone he's reached this season -- the last was 300 career goals back on Dec. 11, but unfortunately for the Rangers, he didn't record a point in the eight contests in between. He continues to play top-six minutes but has struggled across the board with seven goals, 15 assists, a minus-22 rating, 82 shots on net and 26 blocked shots over 37 appearances. His next assist will be the 400th of his career.

Brett Berard - Pots game-winner Thursday Berard scored the game-winning goal in Thursday's 2-1 victory over the Bruins.
Impact The rookie kept the puck on a 2-on-1 rush and ripped it past Jeremy Swayman midway through the first period, giving the Rangers a 2-0 lead. It was Berard's first career GWG, but his bottom-six role doesn't afford him many opportunities to get onto the scoresheet -- over 11 games since returning from an upper-body injury, he's managed two goals and three points with 19 hits, 18 shots on net, six PIM and a minus-7 rating.

Impact The veteran netminder went the entire month of December without picking up a win, but Quick's first start in January was a lot more successful and only an Elias Lindholm tally in the second period prevented him from collecting his third shutout of the season. With Igor Shesterkin (upper body) on the shelf, Quick will handle the starting duties for the Rangers in the short term, and regular work might help him find some consistency -- over his last eight appearances, he's stumbled to a 3.57 GAA and .874 save percentage.
