Cal Petersen - Starting in Pittsburgh Petersen will defend the road goal Sunday versus the Penguins.

Impact Petersen will get the second half of Philadelphia's back-to-back after Samuel Ersson played in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Rangers. The 29-year-old Petersen has stopped 89 of 100 shots in four appearances this season en route to a 2-1-0 record. Pittsburgh is tied for 21st in the league this campaign with 2.91 goals per contest.

Samuel Ersson - Solid in loss Ersson made 22 saves in a 2-1 loss to the Rangers on Saturday.

Impact Alexis Lafreniere beat him five-hole from the top of the left circle during a 4-on-4 in the second period. And Matt Rempe had a shot hit his leg while he was parked in front of the net and deflect in during the third. Ersson is 4-2-1 in seven games during February. He started that run with two wins and just two goals allowed, and he has allowed only three in his most-recent two games. But in three games in between, Ersson allowed 12 goals. He has been pressed into a heavy workload with Carter Hart (personal) sidelined, and he's performed remarkably well given he'd had just 10 starts and 12 games played prior to this season.

Scott Laughton - Ties career-best point streak Laughton picked up an assist Saturday in a 2-1 loss to the Rangers.

Impact He fed the puck out to Tyson Foerster from behind the net as he was falling, and Foerster made no mistake with a one-timer from the edge of the crease. Laughton has seven points (two goals, five assists) during a six-game point streak, which is tied for his NHL career high. The reliable pivot has been playing well lately, but his current pace means he would need luck to hit the 40-point plateau. We keep waiting for Laughton to get a bit of puck luck, but he continues to struggle. He sits with just seven goals in 58 games with a sluggish 5.8 shooting percentage. His career mark is 9.3, and he's recorded double-digit shooting percentages in every season since 2019-20.
