Impact Graves used to be good for 25 points a year, but he's struggled on offense since arriving in Pittsburgh. His defense hasn't been all that good in 2024-25 either, but that could be said about most of the Penguins' blueliners. Graves has accumulated 10 shots on net, 16 hits, 18 blocked shots, seven PIM and a minus-3 rating while seeing third-pairing minutes to begin this season, so he's not an option in most fantasy formats.

Impact Graves faced the ire of Penguins fans last season after he managed just 14 points in 70 contests despite his $4.5 million cap hit and a contract that runs through the 2028-29 campaign. If he continues to struggle this year, he could find himself relegated to the press box in favor of Sebastian Aho, Ryan Shea or Owen Pickering.

Fails to return to action Graves (concussion) was unable to be medically cleared before the end of the 2023-24 season.

Impact Graves spent the last 10 games of the year on injured reserve as a result of his concussion. In part due to his limited appearances, the 28-year-old netminder failed to reach the 20-point threshold for just the second time in his five-year NHL career. It was a tough season for Graves, who has yet to live up to the six-year, $27 million deal he signed with the Pens in July of 2023.

Designated for injured reserve Graves (concussion) has been placed on injured reserve Thursday, Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports reports.

Impact Graves is likely on long-term injured reserve considering the 23-man roster limit is no longer in effect and the team would need cap space to activate either Jansen Harkins (hand) or Noel Acciari (lower body) before the postseason. Assuming that's the case, Graves won't be eligible to be activated until the playoffs and will miss the Penguins' last four games.

Suffers concussion Thursday Graves was diagnosed with a concussion Friday, according to Michelle Crechiolo of the Penguins' official site.

Impact Graves was injured late in the first period Thursday versus Columbus and did not return. The 28-year-old blueliner has three goals, 11 assists, 72 hits and 142 blocked shots in 70 appearances this season. John Ludvig will likely replace Graves in the lineup Saturday, as the Penguins get a return match against Columbus. Graves should miss at least a week with the concussion, and it's possible that his season could be over.

Considering Graves's minimal offensive impact this season, 14 points in 68 games, few fantasy players will have anxiously awaited his return.

Impact Depending on timing, it's possible Graves will link up with the team to face Colorado on Sunday, but for now, he should probably be considered questionable at best. Considering the defenseman has just one point in his last eight outings, few fantasy players figure to be impacted by his absence. In his stead, Jack St. Ivany will make his NHL debut versus the Stars.

Impact Both helpers came in the first period, giving the 28-year-old blueliner his first multi-point performance since Nov. 11. Graves hasn't scored a goal in 17 straight games, and his fantasy value comes from other categories -- on the season he has three goals and 13 points in 60 contests, but that offense comes with 61 hits, 119 blocked shots and a plus-12 rating.

Impact Graves has earned three assists over 12 games since the All-Star break. The 28-year-old defenseman's third-pairing role -- one he ended up in after displaying uncharacteristically weak defense early in the season -- has done nothing to help his offense. Graves has 11 points, 68 shots on net, 111 blocked shots, 59 hits and a plus-11 rating over 58 appearances, but it doesn't look like he has an obvious path back to a top-four role.
