Impact Thompson's usage is starting to get interesting -- he is on the Sharks' top power-play unit, and while he was listed on the third pairing Thursday, he led the team's blueliners with 20:34 of ice time. Thompson has three assists, four shots on net, seven blocked shots, two hits and a minus-2 rating over three outings this season. Even if he serves as a power-play specialist, Thompson will have appeal in deeper fantasy formats, especially those where an ugly plus-minus rating is not a concern.

Alex Wennberg - Gets on scoresheet with two helpers Wennberg logged a pair of power-play assist, two shots on goal and two hits in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Kings.
Impact These were Wennberg's first points in eight appearances to begin his Sharks career. The 30-year-old center was signed to a two-year, $10 million contract in free agency, but as a playmaker, he was always likely to struggle with unproven teammates all around him. Wennberg has added nine shots on net, seven blocked shots, five hits and a minus-7 rating. He has more value on the ice than in fantasy as a pass-first, defensive center.

Impact The Kings jumped out to a 3-0 lead early on, but Granlund was able to cut the deficit to one. The Sharks fell short of tying the game, though Granlund continues to stand out in a top-line role. He's found the scoresheet in five straight games and is up to three goals, six assists, 29 shots on net, eight hits, eight PIM and a minus-4 rating through eight outings overall.

Impact Blackwood put in a decent performance aside from the first 12 minutes, when he allowed all three goals. The Sharks made an effort at a comeback but fell short. Blackwood was the first goalie to start back-to-back games for the Sharks this season, though he remains winless at 0-3-2 with 17 goals allowed on 165 shots over his five appearances. The Sharks are back in action Saturday at Vegas -- neither Blackwood nor Vitek Vanecek would be a good fantasy option in that matchup.

Impact Thompson earned his first career helper in his fifth appearance. The 22-year-old blueliner has drawn into two straight games, with Matt Benning serving as a healthy scratch after a lackluster start to 2024-25. Thompson has added three shots on net, four blocked shots and two hits over his two contests. He's likely to stay on the third pairing at even strength, but he could see power-play time as well, which could give him a path to fantasy rosters in deep formats if he's productive in that role.

Impact Blackwood remains winless (0-2-2) through four appearances, but this was much better than when he allowed five goals on 18 shots versus the Jets last Friday. The 27-year-old netminder will continue to struggle to earn wins behind a poor Sharks team, and he can't be counted on to provide steady ratios. Head coach Ryan Warsofsky has rotated his goalies evenly so far, so it's likely Blackwood will watch Thursday's game versus the Kings from the bench before returning to the crease Saturday in Vegas.
