Klim Kostin - On his way to San Jose Kostin was sent to San Jose from Detroit, for Radim Simek and New Jersey's seventh round pick in 2024 on Friday.

Impact San Jose gets a middle-six forward, who has yet to established himself as an NHL regular. He played 33 games with the Red Wings this season, finding the back of the net three times, while adding one assist. The Sharks will be Kostin's fourth NHL team in his young career, after he was selected 31st overall in the opening round of the 2017 Draft by St. Louis.

Givani Smith - Snags helper in loss Smith posted an assist in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Islanders.

Impact Smith picked up his first point in five games since he returned from a lower-body injury that sidelined him for two months. The 26-year-old winger has four points, 27 shots on net, 70 hits, 33 PIM and a minus-8 rating over 31 appearances. Smith's played almost exclusively on the fourth line and offers almost no upside for fantasy managers.

Fabian Zetterlund - Collects another assist Zetterlund logged a power-play assist, five shots on goal and a minus-3 rating in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Islanders.

Impact Zetterlund has two goals and six assists over his last nine outings. This was his first game with a single point in that span, as he helped out on a Thomas Bordeleau tally in the second period. Zetterlund is up to 29 points, 149 shots, 94 hits, 55 blocked shots and a minus-21 rating over 62 appearances this season. With the Sharks trading away veterans ahead of Friday's deadline, Zetterlund's top-six role is as secure as ever.

William Eklund - Hands out power-play helper Eklund recorded a power-play assist in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Islanders.

Impact Eklund has a pair of goals and two assists over his last four outings. His feed toward the net bounced off Thomas Bordeleau's skate and in for the Sharks' first goal. Eklund continues to put up solid offense despite the dwindling talent on the team around him. He has 29 points (10 on the power play), 97 shots on net, 56 blocked shots and a minus-34 rating through 60 appearances this season.

Thomas Bordeleau - Right place, right time for goal Bordeleau scored a power-play goal on three shots and went minus-3 in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Islanders.

Impact Bordeleau saw a William Eklund pass bounce off his skate and in for a second-period marker. The 22-year-old Bordeleau ended up play top-six minutes after Anthony Duclair was traded to the Lightning before the game. Bordeleau has three points, 10 shots on net and a minus-8 rating through seven outings this season. The 22-year-old forward could get a longer look down the stretch as the Sharks begin to evaluate some of their prospects in advance of the 2024-25 campaign.

Mike Hoffman - Nets goal Thursday Hoffman scored a goal in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Islanders.

Impact Despite the Sharks trading away Anthony Duclair before the contest, Hoffman remained in a fourth-line role. The 34-year-old Hoffman has four points over his last five contests despite his limited ice time. He's now at 10 tallies, 22 points, 68 shots on net and a minus-22 rating through 60 appearances. While he's trending up on offense, the lack of quality throughout the Sharks' lineup makes the winger's surge unlikely to last much longer.

Magnus Chrona - No match for Islanders Chrona stopped 26 of 33 shots in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Islanders.

Impact Chrona gave up a couple of soft goals in the first period and then unraveled completely in the second. Anders Lee also banked a power-play tally off the rookie goalie in the third. Chrona is now 0-2-1 with 17 goals allowed over four appearances this season. If Kaapo Kahkonen is dealt before Friday's trade deadline, Chrona could remain in the NHL, though his starts are unlikely to go very well given the team in front of him.

Jack Thompson - Acquired by Sharks Thompson along with a 2024 third-round pick were acquired by San Jose from Tampa Bay on Thursday in exchange for Anthony Duclair and a 2025 seven-round selection.

Impact Thompson has five goals and 32 points in 46 contests with AHL Syracuse in 2023-24. He also made his NHL debut Jan. 6, recording a shot and two hits in 11:39 of ice time. The 21-year-old defenseman was selected with the No. 93 overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. The Sharks have an eye toward the future, so they might give Thompson a chance to showcase what he can do at the NHL level before the end of the campaign.
