Jake Walman - Returning to lineup versus Wild Walman (coach's decision) will be back in action against Minnesota on Thursday, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.
Impact Walman's benching versus the Blue Jackets on Tuesday was for non-hockey reasons according to head coach Ryan Warsofsky. The 28-year-old blueliner had been rolling offensively before sitting out Tuesday, racking up seven points in his last four contests. With Walman back in the lineup, Jack Thompson figures to be relegated to a spot in the press box.

Lucas Carlsson - On waivers Wednesday Carlsson (undisclosed), who opened the campaign on the injured non-roster list, was put on waivers by the Sharks on Wednesday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Impact Carlsson's placement on waivers suggests he's been cleared to play. He had 15 goals and 39 points in 52 regular-season outings with AHL Charlotte in 2023-24.

Impact Smith set up Jack Thompson's first NHL tally late in the first period. With three points over his last three games, it appears Smith is starting to find his way in the NHL. The rookie center has added 15 shots on net, six PIM and a minus-3 rating over 11 appearances this season. While he's not expected to play every game early on, he should continue to see middle-six minutes and power-play time when in the lineup.

Fabian Zetterlund - Dishes pair of helpers Zetterlund produced two assists and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime win over the Blue Jackets.
Impact Zetterlund saw a four-game point streak end Saturday versus the Canucks, but he bounced back Tuesday. He had a hand in goals by Jack Thompson and Alexander Wennberg in the low-scoring contest. Zetterlund continues to offer offense and hits in a second-line role this season. He's up to 10 points, 29 shots on net, 31 hits and a plus-4 rating over 14 appearances.

Jack Thompson - Scores first career goal Thompson scored a goal and blocked two shots in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime win over the Blue Jackets.
Impact Thompson had been scratched in two of the previous four games, but he took the spot of Jake Walman in the lineup Tuesday. The 22-year-old Thompson's goal was the first of his career to go with three assists over seven appearances this season. He has some scoring upside, especially as part of the Sharks' power-play mix on the blue line. The blueliner has added eight shots on net, 12 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating in a bottom-four role at even strength.

Alex Wennberg - Wins it in overtime Wennberg scored the game-winning goal and added two PIM in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime win over the Blue Jackets.
Impact Wennberg scored for the third time in five games, tallying at 3:11 of overtime to steal the win for the Sharks in a game where they were outshot 50-27. The 30-year-old center remained on the second line Tuesday despite the return of Macklin Celebrini from a lower-body injury. Wennberg is up to three goals, seven points, 21 shots on net, 13 blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating over 14 appearances.

Vitek Vanecek - Stellar in overtime win Vanecek stopped 49 of 50 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime win over the Blue Jackets.
Impact Vanecek also drew the secondary helper on the game-winning goal by Alexander Wennberg. This was easily Vanecek's best performance of the season, and it earned him a second straight win. The 28-year-old netminder is now 2-4-0 with a 3.21 GAA and a .902 save percentage over seven appearances (six starts). It wouldn't be unusual for Vanecek to continue to see heavy workloads as he did Tuesday, but behind a shaky defense, he's unlikely to have many repeat performances.
