Impact Kahkonen was dealt a humiliating loss in the Canucks' last trip to San Jose earlier in the month, but he was able to get his revenge this time. The 27-year-old never faced a deficit after a strong showing from the Sharks' top six. Kahkonen has earned both of his wins this season over his last three games, and it appears he's starting to work his way into a timeshare with Mackenzie Blackwood. Kahkonen is at 2-6-0 with a 4.12 GAA and an .889 save percentage, so it's still tough to justify rostering him in all but the deepest of fantasy formats.

Filip Zadina - Not playing Saturday Zadina (upper body) will be out of the lineup versus Vancouver on Saturday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Impact Zadina left Friday's game in the first period and he did not return. Zadina has been playing with the nagging injury for a while and it came to an apex Friday. He has three goals and five points in 20 games in his first season with the Sharks after playing five seasons in Detroit.

Tomas Hertl - Nine points in last 10 games Hertl put up two assists in a 3-2 shootout loss to Montreal on Friday.

Impact Putting up points this season has been like pushing a boulder uphill for Hertl, who inked a huge contract extension with the bottom-dwelling Sharks in March 2022. He clearly loves the place and the team, and quietly, he's also delivered nine points, including six helpers, in his last 10 games. Hertl also has 27 shots in that span. You may be able to pick up him for almost nothing, but beware that plus-minus. He's already at minus-16 in just 20 games. That's an ugly record if it continues to grow.

Mackenzie Blackwood - Strong but little to show for it Blackwood made 22 saves in a 3-2 shootout loss to Montreal on Friday.

Impact It was nice to see Blackwood help secure at least one point from the game. His last win was Nov. 9. The Sharks are all but destined to land in last place at season's end, so Blackwood's numbers will be difficult to swallow from a fantasy perspective. Consider him a match-ups guy only.

William Eklund - First multipoint NHL game Eklund had a goal and an assist in a 3-2 shootout loss to Montreal on Friday.

Impact It was his first multipoint NHL game. His goal put the Sharks up 2-0 in the second period; it came on the power play. Earlier in the frame, Eklund feathered a sweet feed out to Mike Hoffman from behind the net, and the sniper didn't miss. Three of his four goals so far have been on the power play, and half (four) of his points (eight) have come with the man advantage. Eklund's hockey sense and talent are top notch. More points will come soon enough with that combination.
