ImpactEvans made a strong push for a roster spot but ultimately fell short. If the Kraken have a need for another defenseman, he'll likely be first in line for a call-up, and he should be able to jump into action before veteran Jaycob Megna, who is expected to serve as a seventh defenseman this year.

ImpactWright lost out on the last forward spot on the roster to Tye Kartye. While still just 19 years old, Wright has an exemption to head to the AHL rather than to OHL Windsor. Should the Kraken need another forward due to injuries, Wright is likely to be near the top of the list.

ImpactKartye will presumably open the season as the Kraken's 13th forward after outlasting Shane Wright in camp. Kartye had an impressive turn with the team in the playoffs last year, recording five points in 10 games after replacing an injured Jared McCann in the lineup, and the 22-year-old forward was able to carry that momentum over into the preseason. Opportunities may be limited for Kartye at first, and most of his minutes will likely come in a bottom-six role.

Calvin Pickard - On waivers SaturdayPer Chris Johnston of TSN, Pickard was placed on waivers Saturday.

ImpactPickard has spent parts of eight seasons in the NHL. His big opportunity came in 2016-17 when he was 15-31-2 with a 2.98 GAA and .904 save percentage with the Avalanche. He has been mainly a minor league goaltender ever since and played exclusively for AHL Bakersfield last season, going 23-12-2 with a 2.70 GAA and .912 save percentage.

ImpactDineen will probably start the campaign with AHL Bakersfield if he goes unclaimed on waivers. He had six goals and 47 points in 69 AHL appearances between Tucson and Bakersfield last season.

Philip Kemp - Goes on waiversKemp was put on waivers by the Oilers on Saturday, according to Chris Johnston of TSN.

ImpactKemp has yet to play in the NHL. He signed a two-year, two-way contract in May and will be sent to AHL Bakersfield if he passes through waivers. Kemp had six goals and 15 assists in 71 AHL games last season.

Brad Malone - On waiversMalone was waived by Edmonton on Saturday, according to Chris Johnston of TSN.

ImpactMalone had four goals, 21 points and 40 PIM in 41 contests with AHL Bakersfield last season. He also logged 10 games with Edmonton, posting seven shots, 26 hits and four blocks over that span.
