Lands on waivers Smallman was placed on waivers by the Capitals on Thursday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Impact Smallman joined the Capitals on a one-year, two-way contract at the beginning of July, and he'll head to AHL Hershey if he clears waivers. He hasn't yet made his NHL debut, but he tallied 12 goals and 21 points over 53 regular-season appearances with AHL Colorado last year.

Impact Smallman has yet to make his NHL debut despite having turned pro back in 2017-18. Selected by the Hurricanes in the fifth round of the 2015 NHL Draft, the veteran winger seems unlikely to become a full-time NHL option at this point in his career.
