Impact Noesen found the back of the net on his only shot of the night. While perhaps not as prolific of a scorer as some of his better-known teammates, Noesen's quality reached the 35-point mark in each of the last two seasons -- numbers that were bolstered by his power-play production. If he can maintain a spot with the No. 2 unit, there's no reason to think Noesen can't produce at similar levels in 2024-25.

Signs three-year pact Noesen put pen to paper on a three-year, $8.25 million contract with New Jersey on Monday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Impact Noesen rejoins New Jersey having last played for the club during the 2018-19 campaign in which he tallied just eight points in 41 regular-season contests. The 31-year-old center returns fresh off back-to-back 35-plus point campaigns for the Hurricanes. Perhaps most significant to his recent productivity, Noesen was seeing power-play minutes with Carolina but could face an uphill battle to get opportunities with the man advantage in New Jersey.

Impact Noesen spent five minutes in the box in the first period after dropping the gloves against Kyle MacLean before also snagging a 10-minute misconduct in the final minute of the game. The 31-year-old Noesen ended the regular season on a 20-game goal drought before finding the back of the net in Game 1. As such, fantasy players probably shouldn't be expecting consistent offensive production out of the Texas native.

Impact Nosen is maintaining a spot on the No. 2 power play, but a fourth-line role has limited his offensive chances. The 31-year-old forward has just one goal and three assists over a 15-game span and a month's time. Still, with the Hurricanes in line to make the playoffs, Noesen should be an X-factor, as he tends to fly under the radar but is capable of heating up on short notice.

Impact Now that he's cracked the 30-point mark for the second consecutive season, Noesen now has a chance to hit 40 points for the first time in his career. Not bad for a guy who's currently skating on the Canes' fourth line, although Noesen does see supplemental minutes on the second power-play unit where he's averaging 1:33 of ice time this season.
