Mark Giordano - Not ready to return Wednesday Giordano (finger) isn't expected to return Wednesday versus Ottawa, per Jonas Siegel of The Athletic.
Impact Giordano did participate in the morning skate, but he practiced alongside projected healthy scratch Conor Timmins, Terry Koshan of The Toronto Sun reports. Giordano hasn't been in the lineup since Nov. 28, but he's believed to be day-to-day at this point, so the 40-year-old might be an option to return as soon as Friday versus Columbus. When he does play, it will likely be as a member of the third pairing.

Martin Jones - Slated to face Senators Jones is set to start at home against Ottawa on Wednesday, according to David Alter of Sports Illustrated.
Impact With Joseph Woll (ankle) unavailable and Ilya Samsonov struggling, Toronto is slated to make Jones the starter for the fourth time in the span of five contests. Jones has a 4-1-0 record, 2.79 GAA and .917 save percentage in six outings this year. The Senators are a difficult adversary, tying for eighth offensively in 2023-24 with 3.41 goals per game.

John Tavares - Hits double-digits in goals Tavares scored the game-winning goal Saturday in a 4-1 victory over the Blue Jackets.
Impact Tavares shot under the bar after making a spin move in the left circle. It came early in the second frame while the teams were playing 4-on-4 hockey. Tavares continues to chug along at almost a point-per-game pace (30 in 31 games), but he's far off his goal pace from last season. At this point, he has 10 in 31 games after tickling twine 36 times in 80 last season. Still, a point-per-game is darn sweet. Tavares has delivered 384 points, including 165 goals, in 391 games in blue and white. He has taken a beating in the market because of his massive contract. But he has done everything he can and then some to help carry the Leafs.

Martin Jones - Another win for veteran stopper Jones made 27 saves in a 4-1 win over the Blue Jackets on Saturday.
Impact The only shot that got past him came off the stick of Justin Danforth, who scored 22 seconds into the second on a partial breakaway. It was a sharp rebound after Thursday's beating in Buffalo. Jones is 4-1-0 in four starts (six appearances), and he has a 2.79 GAA and .917 save percentage. With Ilya Samsonov's struggles, Jones is now the defacto starter until Joseph Woll (lower body) returns. Or until the Leafs acquire another goaltender, which was one of the hot topics on the Saturday Headlines on Sportsnet. Keep trotting Jones out until things change in Toronto.

Mitchell Marner - Two apples in win Marner delivered two assists, one of which came on the power play, in a 4-1 win over Columbus.
Impact Marner now has 36 points, including 23 assists, in 31 games, but so many people think it's a disappointing season. That's only because he went through a tough November, and his efforts are being out-classed by Willam Nylander's 119-point pace and Auston Matthews' 76-goal pace. Marner is an excellent fantasy play, and you might be able to get him in a deal because his manager is becoming impatient because of the misperception his season isn't the greatest. Your win if you do.
