Ilya Samsonov - Expected to start Thursday Samsonov will guard the road net against Florida on Thursday, per David Alter of Sports Illustrated.
Impact Samsonov won his first two starts, but he also surrendered nine goals on 56 shots over that span. He posted a 27-10-5 record, 2.33 GAA and .919 save percentage in 42 outings last year. The Panthers suffered a 2-0 shutout to Minnesota in their season opener, but their offense has bounced back with seven goals over their last two contests.

The 40-year-old defenseman saw a season-high 17:10 of ice time Monday, but he's been firmly on the third pairing to begin the year. William Nylander - Pockets helper Monday Nylander notched an assist, two shots on goal and a minus-2 rating in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Blackhawks.
Impact This was the quietest of Nylander's three games this season, but he still got on the scoresheet when he set up a John Tavares goal in the second period. So far, Nylander has three goals, three helpers, 13 shots on net and three hits. He's virtually guaranteed to stay in the top six while receiving ample power-play time in a strong offense. Nylander had 87 points in 82 games last season, and it's very plausible he could top those numbers in 2023-24.

John Tavares - Nets lone goal in loss Tavares scored a goal on six shots in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Blackhawks.
Impact Auston Matthews stole the show with two hat tricks in as many games to open the year, but he was kept quiet Tuesday. Tavares was able to break through for his first tally, but Chicago goalie Arvid Soderblom stopped the other 34 shots Toronto sent his way. Tavares has five assists and 11 shots on net to go with his goal through three appearances. He continues to thrive as the second-line center in one of the league's top offenses.

Joseph Woll - Loses first start of season Woll stopped 27 of 30 shots in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Blackhawks. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.
Impact Woll performed better than Ilya Samsonov had in the first two games of the year, but the Maple Leafs' offense didn't hold up its end of the bargain. The Blackhawks tallied three times in the second period to send Woll to defeat in his first outing of the year. The 25-year-old should still see a solid role as a backup to Samsonov this season, and Woll could push for the starter's job if he performs especially well.
