Easton Cowan - Strong game but still no points Cowan got to skate with his boyhood idol, Mitch Marner, and Max Domi against Montreal on Thursday. He didn't make the scoresheet, but did impress. Impact The trio created eight scoring chances and controlled 84.4 percent of the expected goals at 5v5. But the reality is that the game isn't won on expected goals, and Cowan, who hasn't picked up a point in exhibition games, needs to elevate his offensive game. The diminutive 19-year-old must work on his strength -- he got pushed off the puck a few times, and he had the puck stripped a few times by average NHL defenders. But that will come. Cowan needs more development time, but he sure is fun to watch.
