Jani Hakanpaa - Inks one-year deal Hakanpaa (knee) signed a one-year, $1.47 million contract with Toronto on Wednesday.
Impact Hakanpaa has reportedly secured a two-year deal back in July but that contract with never officially announced by the team, leading to speculation regarding the severity of his knee issue. It seems the two sides were finally able to come to an agreement on a one-year deal instead. The blue line in Toronto is pretty packed, from veteran Oliver Ekman-Larson to youngster Conor Timmins. As such, Hakanpaa is far from a lock to suit up for Opening Night against Montreal on Oct. 9.

Max Pacioretty - Agrees to tryout Pacioretty signed a professional tryout agreement with Toronto on Wednesday.
Impact Pacioretty was limited to just 47 regular-season games with the Capitals last season, recording four goals and 19 assists. If he can make the roster coming out of camp, the veteran winger could be an option with the man advantage, having notched 11 of his 23 points in that role last year. In addition, if Pacioretty can prove he is healthy, he could challenge the likes of Matthew Knies or Bobby McMann (knee) for a top-six role.
