Impact Miner will probably be Scott Wedgewood's backup in Tuesday's road game against Pittsburgh because Mackenzie Blackwood (illness) will be unavailable. The 23-year-old Miner has a 5-4-2 record with a 2.69 GAA and an .895 save percentage in 11 minor-league appearances this season. He made 12 saves on 13 shots in a relief appearance for the Avalanche on Nov. 15 against Washington during a 5-2 loss.

Impact Miner made a relief appearance Friday, stopping 12 of 13 shots en route to a 5-2 loss to Washington. Alexandar Georgiev (upper body) is day-to-day, which is why Miner was with the NHL club. Colorado doesn't play again until Monday's road game against Philadelphia, so Miner might be recalled if Georgiev is unavailable for that match.

Impact Miner didn't look out of place in his NHL debut after being pressed into action, especially considering the Capitals rank second in the league with 4.19 goals per game. The 23-year-old Manitoba native was a seventh-round selection by the Avs in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Miner will likely remain with the big club while Alexandar Georgiev (upper body) is sidelined.

Impact Miner's promotion comes after Alexandar Georgiev was deemed day-to-day with an upper-body injury. The 23-year-old Miner figures to serve as the No. 2 option behind Justus Annunen when the Avs square off with the Capitals at home Friday. Unless Georgiev's injury lingers long-term, Miner is unlikely to see any minutes at the NHL level.

Inks one-year contract Miner signed a one-year contract extension with the Avalanche on Tuesday.

Impact Miner spent his time in the AHL and ECHL this season, recording a .930 save percentage in the AHL appearing in 18 games. The 23-year-old also registered a .917 save percentage in 11 appearances with the Utah Grizzlies in the ECHL. He will look to make the NHL roster heading into the 2024-25 campaign.
