Impact Pettersson picked up a pair of assists in the Canucks' three-goal first period before dangling around Igor Shesterkin for a goal in the second, extending Vancouver's lead to 4-2. Pettersson would add a second goal and a fourth point with an empty-netter in the third. The 25-year-old center now has four goals and seven points in his last two games, as he's gotten off to a blistering start on Vancouver's east coast road trip. Overall, Pettersson's up to 52 points (19 goals, 33 assists) through 40 games this season.

Impact Demko was stellar against a barrage of New York shots, holding the Rangers to a goal in each period en route to his fourth win in five starts. The 28-year-old Demko improved to 20-8-1 with a career-best .916 save percentage and 2.54 GAA. Casey DeSmith will likely be between the pipes Tuesday against the Islanders in the second leg of a back-to-back, lining up Demko for a road matchup against the Penguins on Thursday.

Impact It was the 69th multipoint game for Hughes, who passed Alexander Edler for the most ever by a Canucks defenseman. He has 10 points, including nine assists, in his last seven contests. Hughes leads all NHL defenders in scoring with 49 points, two ahead of Cale Makar, and he sits in sole possession of 10th on the overall scoring list. His game has taken a significant jump this season, and should he keep this up, Hughes could contend for both the Norris and the Hart trophies by season's end.

Impact It was Demko's 100th NHL win. Demko and the Canucks were convincing early, but the team sat back a little bit too much after taking a 5-2 lead early in the third. The Devils fired things up in the third, with Colin Miller and Nico Hischier scoring 1:47 apart to make it 5-4. A Devils power-play at 16:49 made things interesting before the Canucks scored an empty-net goal to ease the pressure. With the win, Demko passed Jacob Markstrom for sole possession of fifth on the Vancouver wins list.

Impact Pettersson moved up to the top line alongside J.T. Miller and Brock Boeser to start a game for the first time since they spent the 2021-22 season together. Pettersson moved to wing from center, and the trio had immediate chemistry. His first goal was a tip-in just 41 seconds into the second period; it put the Canucks up 1-0. Pettersson scored the game-winning goal early in the third period after Boeser found him cutting alone into the slot for a quick shot under Nico Daws' pads.
