Arturs Silovs - On ice Thursday Silovs (knee) participated in Thursday's informal skate with his teammates, Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650 reports. Impact Silovs was held out of Olympic qualifying matches with Latvia due to knee inflammation but appears to be trending in the right direction. The Canucks may need the 23-year-old netminder to start the season between the pipes, as No. 1 backstop Thatcher Demko is also dealing with a knee issue. For his part, Silovs has just nine regular-season games under his belt but should be expected to see upwards of 30 outings in 2024-25 -- perhaps more depending on how long Demko is shelved. Vancouver kicks off preseason Sept. 24 against Seattle, which could be Silovs first start of the campaign if his knee is given the all-clear.
