Impact Cam Talbot hasn't returned from his lower-body injury, but Husso's demotion suggests Talbot might be an option for the Red Wings' upcoming back-to-back set against Montreal on Friday and Saturday. Husso has a 1-4-2 record, 3.46 GAA and .877 save percentage in eight appearances with Detroit in 2024-25. He's been far better with Grand Rapids, posting a 1.58 GAA and a .944 save percentage in five outings.

But he was also strong -- he stymied Mitch Marner on a third-period breakaway to preserve the lead. The win was Husso's first of the season (1-4-2; 3.42 GAA and .877 save percentage). He'll need more performances like this one with Cam Talbot (lower body) sidelined and Alex Lyon (lower body) on the IR.

Impact The Red Wings are dealing with several injuries among their goaltenders, as Alex Lyon (lower body) remains on injured reserve, while Cam Talbot exited Friday's practice session due to a lower-body injury and won't be available Saturday. As a result, Husso will tend the twine at home Saturday, while Detroit will need to call up another netminder to serve as a backup. It's not yet clear whether Talbot will be sidelined beyond Saturday, but the Red Wings hope that Lyon will be able to return at home against the Flyers on Wednesday.

Impact While the netminder didn't have much chance on the last two goals, Zach Benson's tally just 98 seconds into the game definitely qualified as a softie, as Husso got a clean look at a long-range shot but simply left too much of a gap at the near post. Husso has started five straight games but failed to come away with a win in any of them, going 0-2-2 with a 3.31 GAA and .889 save percentage. If Cam Talbot (lower body) isn't ready to return Thursday in Philadelphia, it wouldn't be a surprise if Cossa got the nod for his first career NHL start instead.
