Darcy Kuemper - Remains out Saturday Kuemper (undisclosed) isn't ready to return for Saturday's road contest versus the Islanders.
Impact Kuemper was last in net for Wednesday's 4-3 overtime loss to Florida. He has a 3-3-2 record, 3.07 GAA and .892 save percentage in eight contests this year. Hunter Shepard is set to start Saturday while Charlie Lindgren will serve as the backup.

Impact In a corresponding move, Martin Fehervary (lower body) was placed on injured reserve. McIlrath has three assists and 23 PIM in 11 AHL contests this campaign. He could be a healthy scratch for Saturday's matchup against the Islanders.

Impact Fehervary was injured in the second period of Friday's 4-2 win over New Jersey. He will miss at least the next two contests, starting with Saturday's matchup with the Islanders, following his placement on the IR list. Fehervary has two assists, 17 shots on goal, 20 blocked shots and 29 hits in 12 outings this season. He could be replaced in the lineup Saturday by Alexander Alexeyev or recent call-up Dylan McIlrath.

Nicolas Aube-Kubel - Two points in season debut Aube-Kubel scored a goal and added an assist in Friday's 4-2 win over New Jersey.
Impact Both points came in the first period, as Aube-Kubel opened the scoring midway through the frame with a one-timer from the faceoff dot to the left of Vitek Vanecek -- a goal that chased the Devils netminder from the game. Aube-Kubel was making his season debut after being promoted from AHL Hershey earlier in the day, but he's never been a big offensive threat. The 27-year-old had only four goals and 12 points in 53 games last season split between the Caps and Leafs, and he had just one goal and three points in 11 games for Hershey prior to his recall.

Evgeny Kuznetsov - Lights lamp twice in win Kuznetsov scored two goals including the game-winner in Friday's 4-2 victory over the Devils.
Impact The 31-year-old converted a virtual tap-in early in the second period after a great display of hustle from Tom Wilson, who chipped the puck out of Washington's zone and out-raced New Jersey defenders to collect it and create the scoring chance. That gave the Caps a 3-0 lead, and Kuznetsov then squelched the Devils' comeback attempt with an empty-netter. Through 12 games this season, he's produced three goals and seven points -- a pace that would see him fall short of 50 points over a full season for the first time since 2014-15, his first full campaign in the NHL.

Charlie Lindgren - Wins second straight start Lindgren made 24 saves in Friday's 4-2 win over the Devils.
Impact The 29-year-old netminder took a shutout, and a 3-0 lead, into the third period, and while he lost the clean sheet on a Timo Meier tally after he couldn't handle the rebound on a shot from Michael McLeod, Lindgren held on to record the victory. With Darcy Kuemper apparently needing a bit of a break -- coach Spencer Carbery said before Friday's game that Kuemper was "a little nicked up", per Mike Morreale of NHL.com -- Lindgren has started two of the last three games and won them both, allowing only three goals on 61 shots.

Rasmus Sandin - Bouncing back offensively Sandin supplied an assist and four blocked shots in Friday's 4-2 win over the Devils.
Impact Sandin has two assists over the last three games, which qualifies as a sudden surge considering he was held without a point in all eight October contests. The Capitals are sending Sandin to the ice in the offensive zone 62.4 percent of the time, plus he's hanging onto a No. 2 power-play spot, so he may be able to keep it going offensively in the near term. Sandin also has 11 hits and 27 blocked shots through 12 games.

John Carlson - Steps in front of five shots Carlson missed the scoresheet but had a season-high five blocked shots in Friday's 4-2 win over the Devils.
Impact While Carlson hasn't recorded a point in four straight games, he wouldn't be considered an elite defenseman if he didn't help out in other areas. Still, Carlson is averaging a career high in ice time (26:12) -- including 4:31 on the power play -- so it's likely only a matter of time before he gets going offensively. The 15-year veteran has one goal and six assists through 12 contests.
