Former U.S. international, Cobi Jones, is a FOX Sports soccer analyst. He began working with FOX Sports in 2010 as part of the World Cup Draw coverage. Since then, he has been part of FOX Sports’ coverage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™, Major League Soccer, the U.S. Men’s National Team, FIFA Youth Tournaments, the Guinness Cup, Concacaf Champions League, Gold Cup, Copa America, Liga MX and Bundesliga.
Jones has a long and storied professional career, playing in three FIFA World Cups for the U.S. Men’s National Team (1994, 1998, 2002), spending 12 seasons with the LA Galaxy, as a member of Coventry City of the English Premier League and as the first American to play in Brazil with Vasco d Gama. He was inducted into the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame in 2011.
In addition to his television work with FOX Sports, Jones serves as the lead analyst for the LA Galaxy with Spectrum SportsNet and as an analyst on the PAC 12 Network. In 2014, Cobi was a leading voice for BeIN Sports’ FIFA World Cup coverage. In 2012, Cobi worked for NBC on the network’s 2012 London Olympics coverage.
Jones is a Southern California sports legend, maintaining the title of the longest standing member of the LA Galaxy. LA’s "Original Cobi," spent 15 seasons with the Galaxy, as both a player and coach from 1996 – 2010, with his #13 being the only number retired in club history. He is a two-time MLS Cup winner (2002, 2005) and holds the LA Galaxy record for most appearances (306), goals (70) and assists (91), and is one of only three players in MLS history to have netted 60 or more goals and 80 or more assists. Jones is also the only player in MLS history to have played each of the first 12 seasons with the same team. He was awarded "U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year" and "MLS Best XI" in 1998.
Jones holds the record for the most appearances (164) in U.S. Men’s National Team history. A permanent fixture with the team from 1992-2004, he scored 15 goals and 22 assists, which are the second most in the National Team record books. He played in three World Cups (1994, 1998, 2002). In addition, Cobi was a member of the 1992 U.S. Olympic Soccer Team.
A native of Westlake Village, Calif., Jones played college soccer at UCLA, leading the Bruins to the 1990 NCAA Championship. Enshrined into the UCLA Hall of Fame in 2002, Jones finished his college career with 23 goals and 37 assists in 90 games.
Cobi works closely with the LA2028 Olympic Committee, LA84 Foundation, Cal South, AYSO, the U.S. Soccer Foundation, among others. He represented the White House as part of the Presidential Delegation, attending both the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup Final in Canada and the 2014 FIFA Men’s World Cup Final in Brazil. He is also consistently part of the U.S. State Department’s Sports Envoy.
Cobi lives in Los Angeles with his wife Kimberly and two sons, Cayden and Cai.
