Prior to the creation of the NWSL, O’Reilly played with Sky Blue FC of Women’s Professional Soccer from 2009-11. In the 2009 Women’s Professional Soccer final, O’Reilly scored the only goal, helping her team clinch the title.
O’Reilly joined the professional ranks after a decorated career at the University of North Carolina, where she won two national championships and had the honor of having her jersey retired.
O’Reilly is involved in various philanthropic organizations such as America Scores and Right to Play. She recently joined Juan Mata, Alex Morgan and others in Common Goal, a group of professional players committed to making the world better through a yearly contribution of their playing salaries for various projects. O’Reilly has a training business called Heather O’Reilly Soccer Academy, which is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of players through work ethic, leadership and authenticity.
