Achraf Hakimi missed a late penalty as Morocco became the latest big name to be knocked out of the Africa Cup of Nations with a 2-0 loss to South Africa in the round of 16

Joining Morocco Hakimi was named to the Cup of Nations squad for Morocco, the league announced Thursday.

Impact Hakimi was an unused substitute against Metz on Dec. 20 but has featured in 19 of his 20 appearances for PSG this season. Without Hakimi available, Nordi Mukiele could find himself back in the starting XI for the first time since Dec. 3 against Le Havre.

Impact Hakimi registered a campaign-high for shots in a match Wednesday, firing in three during the draw. Impact For the first time since the PSG team's first game of its 2023-24 season, Hakimi logged more than five crosses across a single Ligue 1 matchup. However, he continues to be inaccurate with his crosses. Hakimi has not logged an accurate cross in Ligue 1 action since Sept. 15 and attempted 21 crosses since then. Until he can get his crossing consistency patched up, the right-back's value will likely continue coming from other categories.

Impact Hakimi's status for Saturday is currently in question, as he was not with the team on the training grounds Friday after having to deal with some personal problems. The absence of the right back could be a huge loss, as he only has missed out on two starts this season. Expect Nordi Mukiele to get the start on Saturday if Hakimi is not an option.

Impact Hakimi's latest log is a relative surprise, considering he logged multiple crosses only twice across earlier PSG games this season.
