Impact Rioja replaced Tomas Conechny in the 68th minute and quickly made an impact by registering the most crosses in the game. Despite making only four passes, he also recorded two tackles, capping off a brilliant cameo. Last season, he featured in all but one game, contributing nine goal involvements.

Last season, Blanco was a consistent presence with 33 appearances, and similar expectations are placed on him for this season.

Impact As expected, Sedlar is available off the bench, so his injury woes are officially in the rearview. Given that he started in each of his 11 appearances in 2023/24 before suffering a torn ACL in Nov. 2023, Sedlar could contend for a starting spot at center-back once he's fully healthy and available.

Impact Sanchez just joined Alaves on loan this offseason but won't be able to compete in their season opener, as he is ineligible due to playing against his parent club while on loan. He is expected to be a starter for Alaves, so this will be a tough loss for the one match. Carlos Vicente will likely take over his role at right-back while Luka Romero takes Vicente's spot on the right side of the attack.

Aleksandar Sedlar - Back to group training Sedlar (knee) was back on the grass in group training Thursday ahead of the new season.

Impact Sedlar suffered a torn ACL back in November, missing the last eight months following surgery. He began to train with the team for the first time as he works strength on his knee again, though is still questionable for the start of the season on on Aug 16 versus Celta Vigo. The defender started all 11 games prior to getting hurt, logging in a goal with 43 clearances and 14 tackles (10 won).

Luka Romero - Heads to Alaves Romero has transferred to Alaves on loan with an option to buy, Milan announced.

Impact Romero will keep playing in La Liga, with a chance of staying permanently, after registering three goals, eight shots (three don't target), two key passes and two crosses (one accurate) in 13 appearances (five starts) with Almeria in the last six months.

Manuel Sanchez - Heads to Alaves Sanchez has been transferred to Alaves from Celta Vigo on a one year deal.

He is expected to keep an important role on the team following his years of experience playing in the league.

Hugo Novoa - Transfers to Alaves Novoa has completed a transfer to Alaves from Leipzig, according to his former club.

Impact Novoa will not remain with Leipzig any longer, as after three consecutive seasons on loan, he has finally left to return home to Spain and join Alaves. While with Leipzig, he appeared 23 times, notching two goals. That said, he held a minimal role and should have more of a presence with his new club.

Moussa Diarra - Transfers to Alaves Diarra has completed a transfer to Alaves from Toulouse, his new club announced.

Impact Diarra will be switching from one top-flight European league to another, with the defender set to join Spanish club Alaves. He is coming off a season mainly serving in a starting role, starting in 22 of his 30 appearances while bagging a goal and two assists to go along with 32 interceptions, 41 tackles and 49 clearances. He will likely see the same role with his new club, possibly even seeing more starts.

Asier Villalibre - Transfers to Alaves Villalibre has agreed on a move to Alaves from Athletic Club ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Impact Villalibre has been with the team since 2016, winning the Copa de Rey for the first time last season. Since 2020, the forward had made just 24 starts in 77 appearances in la Liga, scoring eight goals with three assists. He will remain in Spain as he is set to debut with Alaves ahead of the new season.

Tomas Conechny - Joins Alaves Conechny has completed a transfer to Alaves from Godoy Cruz on a four-year contract until the end of the 2027/28 season, his new club announced Friday.

Impact Conechny has been one of Godoy Cruz's best players over the last 18 months, scoring 14 goals and delivering 10 assists across 61 appearances in that span. His pace and vision on the wing will certainly add depth to Alaves' attacking line.
