Traded to Charlotte Shinyashiki has been traded to Charlotte FC in exchange for $225,000 in General Allocation Money from Colorado, the club announced Tuesday.
Impact Shinyashiki burst on to the scene with the Rapids, winning the 2019 MLS Rookie of the Year award after tallying seven goals and three assists that year, but his career has stalled a bit since as he scored a combined eight goals and two assists in the next two campaigns. The 24-year-old now moves to expansion side Charlotte, which are currently tied for the second-worst goalscoring record in the Eastern Conference. They don't boast much attacking talent, especially on the wings since Vinicius Mello has been out with a foot injury, so Shinyashiki could find a way immediately into the starting lineup if he can improve the team in that aspect.

Impact Shinyashiki entered the match in the 74th minute and scored the Rapids' final goal in the 87th. The goal was the first of the season for the midfielder as he made the most of his limited time on the pitch.

He recently responded to that opportunity by recording assists across consecutive games. Those indicate Shinyashiki should play alongside Michael Barrios (who has a team-best tally of seven goals) instead of Cole Bassett and Mark-Anthony Kaye.

Impact Shinyashiki was absent for the majority of the match Saturday. The forward led the line for the third straight match and he is averaging 2.0 shots in that timeframe. He is clearly frustrated though after this win, but it certainly does not help that he offered very little. As long as he continues to lead the line, he is worth looking at, but he won't offer much in terms of upside.

While Jack Price likely has a better scoring floor Shinyashiki is doing well in his own right and worth following if his performances remain steady. Impact Shinyashiki has been very off for the majority of the early season. However, he showed a little spark of life in the win. The forward managed to turn a bad pass into a lovely half-moon and an eventual goal. The goal itself highlights one of his best attributes, speed. In three seasons, Shinyashiki has yet to truly make a name for himself and he may be reaching his final trial this season. Until he can start getting some consistent minutes again and consistent production look elsewhere.
