Impact The club's release states, "Mainz 05 fail to understand and are surprised by Anwar El Ghazi's statement on his social-media channels relating to the club. The club will examine the facts from a legal standpoint and then evaluate the situation. The player took sick leave on Monday and is not currently training." Based on the above release, it seems El Ghazi may be headed for a suspension at a minimum and possibly releasing him from his contract. At this point, fantasy players can probably safely assume El Ghazi won't be in the squad against Leipzig on Saturday.
