Impact Watkins blanked for the second consecutive game, having netted in the previous four. Only Erling Haaland has scored more goals since the World Cup break and Watkins is unlikely to have to wait long for his 15th of the campaign, which will beat his previous record for a single season.

Impact McGinn picked up his third assist of the season when his corner was headed in my Tyrone Mings. Two of his six crosses found a teammate and he also helped out defensively, tracking back to win one tackle and make two clearances. While his good performances do not result in too many attacking returns, the midfielder has been a vital player as his team have moved up the table in recent weeks.

Impact Mings scored his first goal since November 2021 to earn his team another three points that moves them, temporarily at least, into the European places. The centre-back has been integral in defense for Villa, helping them keep seven clean sheets in their last 10 games. He will have to put in a good performance if they are to deny Man Utd in their next game on Sunday.

Impact With his team on an excellent run of form, Martinez has kept seven clean sheets in his last 10 appearances. He will likely have more work to do when Villa face Man Utd on Sunday.
