Impact Sosa picked up a minor adductor strain in last week's preseason friendly against Cruz Azul. Regardless, he will miss the first two matches of the new MLS campaign with a suspension for using a homophobic slur in Atlanta's penultimate game of 2022, so he'll have plenty of time to recover from this knock.

Giorgos Giakoumakis - Transfers to Atlanta Giakoumakis has signed a four-year contract with Atlanta United after transferring from Celtic, the club announced Wednesday.

Impact Giakoumakis has scored 26 goals in 57 appearances across all competitions during his 18-month stint with Scottish champions Celtic, including netting against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League in October. The 28-year-old striker is now moving to MLS as a Designated Player with Atlanta, where he should slot straight into the starting lineup in place of the departed Josef Martinez, Ronaldo Cisneros and Dom Dwyer.

Osvaldo Alonso - Still working up fitness Alonso (knee) is continuing his rehabilitation with Atlanta United in an effort to be fit by the start of the 2023 campaign, he said in a team video last month.

Impact Alonso has been sidelined since tearing his ACL last April in what was just his fourth appearance for Atlanta United after moving from Minnesota United during the previous transfer window. The 37-year-old hasn't been able to feature in the preseason yet and his status for the opening match of this campaign against the Earthquakes in late February is in doubt.
