Axel Witsel - Adds another year to contract Witsel has agreed on a one year contract extension with the team, keeping him in Spanish Capital until 2025.

Impact Witsel joined the team from Dortmund in 2022, completing his second season with Atletico. He's recorded 70 starts in 84 appearances in all competitions, totaling two goals and one assist while generating 216 clearances, 84 tackles (50 won) and 49 blocks. He capped off another campaign as a starter at center back, with the veteran defender set for another year with the side.

Impact Moldovan is set to lead Romania into Euro 2024, as he is their defined starter in net after getting the start in every qualifying match. With Romania being in one of the weaker groups, he could see a decent tournament and propel Romania to the round of 16. However, the club will have to see stellar performances from the keeper to get past Belgium and Ukraine, hoping he can be a clean-sheet factory after earning five in qualifying.

Impact Azpilicueta was a nice depth option with the ability to play at full-back and center-back. He didn't fully embrace either role, and he never really took the starting job, but he still played 1,421 minutes due to his versatility. Azpilicueta should continue a stable role with Atleti heading into the final season of his contract.

Pablo Barrios Rivas - Tops 1,500 minutes Barrios played 1,556 minutes across 24 appearances (17 starts) in La Liga.

Impact Barrios was good for a new career-high of 1,556 minutes, his first season taking on a consistent starting role. The midfielder has continued to grow into the first team in Atleti, and is improving every year. Barrios could be a full-time starter heading into 2024/25 after an impressive season.

Saul Niguez - Remains bench option Saul made just 14 starts (34 appearances) scoring once and assisting four times in La Liga.

Impact Saul was a bench option for the second season in a row, as his starting days are seemingly behind him. The midfielder is still productive when called upon, he just isn't a starter day-to-day anymore. Still five goal contributions from 1,363 minutes is a productive showing. Saul will continue to produce on both sides of the ball when called upon to start.

Koke - Four assists Koke provided four assists in 35 appearances (32 starts) in La Liga.

Impact Koke played a massive role yet again, as expected, he was a starter in nearly every match while surpassing 2,500 minutes for the seventh straight season. The midfielder is perhaps the most important part of the Atleti XI, and remains one of the first names on the team sheet. At this point Koke is a consistent producer, with a solid floor but limited upside.

Stefan Savic - Rotated heavily Savic made 23 appearances (19 starts) in La Liga, making 59 clearances.

Impact Savic once again struggled with some nagging injury concerns, but perhaps more concerningly he was rotated quite heavily in the back half of the season. That's partially to try and keep him fit, but also partly due to the other strong defensive options. Savic could see his role begin to diminish in 2024/25, especially with other young options impressing.

Rodrigo Riquelme - Impresses in debut season Riquelme scored three goals and added five assists in 34 appearances (17 starts) in La Liga.

Impact Riquelme added eight goal contributions, matching his tally with Girona. The winger never established a true starting role, but he wasn't expected to. Instead he made the most of his limited chances, and played a valuable depth role. Barring injury Riquelme should have no problems replicating this role in the coming seasons.

Jose Maria Gimenez - Role dwindles Gimenez made 22 appearances (14 starts) in La Liga.

Impact Gimenez struggled for minutes due to a variety of injuries, when fit the defender would likely be a consistent starting option. That unfortunately led to him being rushed back at times, as he suffered a few recurring issues. Gimenez is an excellent defender, but there's no guarantee he will stay fit enough to surpass 2,000 minutes.

Memphis Depay - Limited by injury Depay scored five times and assisted once in 23 appearances (nine starts) in La Liga.

Impact Depay produced six goal contributions but was held to under 1,000 minutes on the pitch by injury once more. Depay is an excellent striker, there's no doubting that, but fitness continues to be a major issue for him. If he can stay fit Depay could be in for a big role in 2024/25, especially if Antoine Griezmann departs Atleti.

Antoine Griezmann - Tops twenty goal contributions Griezmann scored 16 times and added six assists in 33 appearances (31 starts.)

Impact Griezmann was utterly brilliant once more, driving play and finishing his chances efficiently. The attacker has a contract clause that would allow him to leave Atleti at an affordable fee during the summer transfer window, so there will be interest globally. Still with the Euros coming up Griezmann likely won't want to make any sort of future decision before the tournament, meaning he could be in for a longer transfer saga.

Rodrigo De Paul - Excellent once more De Paul scored three times and assisted five times in 34 appearances (25 starts.)

Impact De Paul was back to his offensive best, with eight goal contributions and 39 chances created while playing an excellent box-to-box role. The midfielder hasn't taken on the attacking role he had with Udinese in Madrid, but he still contributes massively. De Paul should remain a key piece of the midfield moving forward in all competitions.

Thomas Lemar - Hardly plays Lemar made just three appearances (three starts) due to injury.

Impact Lemar started three of the first four matches before an injury shut him down for the remainder of the season. The good news is that his Achilles injury was seemingly healed by the end of the season, he just hadn't recovered match fitness yet. Lemar will have the offseason to try and put this disappointing season behind him.

Mario Hermoso - Limited offensively Hermoso assisted once in 31 appearances (29 starts) in La Liga.

Impact Hermoso played a huge role with 2,556 minutes, but only provided a single goal contribution. The defender has previously had a talent for joining the attack but he failed to do so. Still he offered plenty defensively and kept eight clean sheets while playing the second most minutes of any of his seasons with Atleti. With his contract coming to an end Hermoso remains in negotiations with Atleti.

Axel Witsel - Excellent in new position Witsel made 35 appearances (30 starts) in La Liga, scoring twice.

Impact Witsel completed his move to center-back taking a full time role in the middle of a back three, and was exceptional. The defender was so good he's now earned a call up back into the Belgian national team. Witsel has less offensive upside in the back line, of course, but he impressed and could see an extension with Atletico Madrid after another season with big minutes.

Impact Morata recorded a goal contribution for the second consecutive game, capping off the second-most productive season of his career, with a total of 15 goals and three assists in 32 appearances. After picking up 21 starts on the campaign, he closed the season as a substitute in his final six appearances, accounting for three shots on target, four chances created and one accurate cross in that span.

Marcos Llorente - Notches assist in win Llorente assisted once to go with two shots (two on goal), two crosses (one accurate) and two chances created in Saturday's 2-0 win against Real Sociedad.

Impact Llorente delivered his fourth assist of the season and his first in 20 league appearances. This marked the fifth consecutive game where he recorded a shot, while he has five chances created over the last six outings. With a total of six goals and four assists on the campaign, Llorente wrapped up his most productive season since 2020.

Reinildo Mandava - Nets second of the season Reinildo scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) in Saturday's 2-0 win against Real Sociedad. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 87th minute.

Impact Reinildo entered as sub in the 84th minute of play and came up with his second goal in 16 appearances on the season. It marked his first shot on target in his last 11 league outings, and he also nabbed his first interception in six games. After staring in 22 games last season, Reinildo was sidelined for a large part of the 2023/24 campaign but closed the season by playing in 16 of the final 20 league games.
