Impact Niguez started at left-back on Monday and held his own after a disappointing loan spell with Chelsea last season. Yannick Carrasco and Renan Lodi will likely be the preferred options in the position moving forward and there's plenty of competition for his more natural midfield spots as well, but he proved against Getafe that he can still have a role on this Atletico team.

He scored four goals and logged five assists last season despite only starting in 17 league games. These are solid numbers for a player who isn't likely to be in the lineup without missing some matches due to injury or rotation.
