Impact Witsel had previously started all eight of his La Liga appearances since coming over to Atletico from Dortmund. Accordingly, the move to the bench for this one is likely rest-related, and he could be called upon if his squad need to defend a result later in the match.

Impact Naturally a central-midfielder, Witsel has done well as a center-back due to his excellent distribution abilities and smart decision making. That said this was his worst offensive return for Dortmund, as he managed only two goals and six chances created over the campaign. Witsel is set to leave the club as his contract expires following five years with Dortmund. Witsel will be a veteran presence who will surely be sought after across all of Europe's top leagues.
