Kristoffer Ajer - Injured in first half
Ajer was forced off in the first half of Saturday's match against Everton through injury.
Impact
Ajer left the match in the 39th minute succumbing to an injury and being replaced by Mads Roerslev. The defender's status for Brentford's next match at Manchester City following in the international break is in doubt.

Jayden Meghoma - Signs with Brentford
Meghoma completed a permanent move to Brentford from Southampton.
Impact
Meghoma signed with Brentford on a permanent transfer from Southampton. The defender is one for the future, but is considered a promising addition to the Brentford youth setup. Meghoma likely won't play a major role for Brentford this season.

Ivan Toney - Still out of squad
Toney won't be included in the squad for Saturday's clash with Southampton, according to manager Thomas Frank.
Impact
Toney is still in the midst of a potential transfer, and evidently hasn't been included. Once the window closes the hope will be that Toney can either return to the squad or establish himself in his new team. In the meantime Yoane Wissa should lead the line against Southampton.

Ben Mee - Starts and plays 90
Mee started and played 90 minutes in Wednesday's 1-0 Carabao Cup win over Colchester.
Impact
Mee saw his first start of the new season Wednesday, playing the full 90 in the win. He had only played one match previous to Wednesday, seeing one minute off the bench. That said, he is likely to remain in more of a rotational role this season, playing backup to Kristoffer Ajer and Ethan Pinnock.

Aaron Hickey - Could miss most of new season
Hickey is expected to miss the majority of the 2024/25 season after suffering a setback with his hamstring injury and undergoing another surgery. "The procedure involved the remova...
Impact
This is about as worse as it could get for Hickey, who initially suffered a hamstring injury last October. That means he could be on the shelf for almost two years due to hamstring problems and multiple surgeries. It's a massive blow for Brentford who were counting on him to once again be a regular at full-back. It's possible they'll add someone else to provide depth or even take a starting spot from either Kristoffer Ajer or Mads Roerslev.

Gustavo Nunes - Joins Brentford
Nunes is leaving Brazil and is joining Brentford on a six year deal, with a club option for an extra two years.
Impact
Nunes is an 18-year-old winger who began his career with Gremio in Brazil. He has played 40 matches for the senior team in all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing four assists. He is set to join Brentford in the Premier League, where he is expected to bolster the attacking lineup and possibly earn considerable playing time if he can adjust rapidly to the league.

Rico Henry - Set for friendly next week
Henry will play in a closed-doors friendly next week in his recovery from a torn ACL.
Impact
Henry has been working on fitness and recovery for more than a month and he'll finally get some pitch time during the international break. He's been out a full year with the injury, so it can't be expected he'll move into the starting XI right away, but there's a chance he'll make the squad for the trip to Manchester City coming out of the break.

Kristoffer Ajer - Busy defensively
Ajer recorded one tackle (zero won) and three clearances in Sunday's 2-0 defeat to Liverpool.
Impact
Ajer had plenty to do behind the ball throughout Sunday's loss, and in the end he didn't provide much. It was always going to be a tough clash and it went about as expected at Anfield. Still almost every other match on the calendar should be easier for Ajer, both going forward and defensively.

Keane Lewis-Potter - Chance created
Lewis-Potter registered two shots (one on goal), one cross (zero accurate) and one chance created in Sunday's 2-0 defeat versus Liverpool.
Impact
Lewis-Potter created a single chance during Sunday's loss, and was largely contained by the Liverpool backline. The forward showed some flashes of his pace and creativity, and showed why he can be a threatening option down the flank. Still he couldn't do enough to break down the Liverpool backline.

Mathias Jensen - One shot in loss
Jensen recorded one shot (zero on goal), five crosses (three accurate) and three corners in Sunday's 2-0 defeat to Liverpool. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 45th mi...
Impact
Jensen was busy during Sunday's loss, but failed to make the most of his chances, struggling for end product. It was always going to be a tough match for the midfielder, so it's not totally surprising that he wasn't at his best. Jensen will continue to be a productive option when included in the starting XI.

Rico Henry - Not ready for match action
Henry (knee) is unavailable during Sunday's match against Liverpool.
Impact
Henry will remain out despite progressing well in his return from a knee injury suffered last season. The wing-back could return in some capacity next week against Southampton, though he'll likely be eased back into action from the bench.

Ivan Toney - Remains excluded from squad
Toney (not injury related) is not in the Brentford team to face Liverpool on Sunday.
Impact
Toney remains out despite being given a chance to feature by manager Thomas Frank in the buildup to Sunday's match. A potential move away from the club is still in the cards for Toney with Yoane Wissa once again starting in his absence.

Josh Da Silva - Still without return date
Dasilva remains without a return date following knee surgery earlier this year.
Impact
Dasilva underwent meniscus surgery in February and then a few months later signed a new contract with the club. However, he's yet to return to the pitch and there hasn't been much information on his rehab. It's best to assume he's weeks, if not months away from a return.

Ivan Toney - Could be option Sunday
Toney's status ahead of Sunday's trip to Liverpool remains unknown, according to manager Thomas Frank. "He could be involved, he could not be involved."
Impact
This wasn't the most helpful update on Toney, but it's about all Frank can give. While he's been training all week, it's hard to see Frank throwing Toney into the XI given what's happened in the past week and that he wasn't even in the squad for the opener. As long as Toney isn't starting, that likely means a more consistent role for Yoane Wissa.

Henry (knee) is recovering well and is back in full training, according to manager Thomas Frank."Rico is progressing very well and hopefully he is soon ready to join the squad. He...
Impact
Henry is struggling with a knee injury, but his recovery is on schedule as the defender looks to get back on the pitch. It's unclear if he will be ready for any role against Liverpool, but he could be back sooner rather than later. Henry will compete for starts at left-back when fully fit, especially with Kristoffer Ajer pushed out of position to cover for the absence.

Sepp Van den Berg - Makes Brentford move
van den Berg signed with Brentford from Liverpool, the club announced.
Impact
van den Berg made the switch to Brentford, where he should see more chances than he would have with Liverpool. The defender impressed on loan with Mainz last season and now should compete for Premier League minutes. It will still be a tall ask for van den Berg to make a full move into the starting XI, barring injuries elsewhere.
