Alvaro Jimenez - Sends in five crosses off the bench Jimenez sent in five crosses (one accurate) and suffered one foul after coming off the bench during Saturday's 1-1 draw against Levante.
Impact Jimenez made his official debut for Cadiz, being brought in the 81st minute to replace Alex Fernandez. Despite the short playing time, the forward was very productive, racking up a lot of crosses as his side went into full offense mode in search of a game-tying goal. He'll hope this showing helps him to get more minutes during Friday's visit to Betis.
AUGUST 16, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Fali - Makes four clearances in draw Jimenez made four clearances and three interceptions during Saturday's 1-1 draw against Levante.
Impact Jimenez once again anchored the defense for Cadiz with team highs in both clearances and interceptions and some crucial interventions that kept his side in contention. The centre back is always be a viable source of peripheral stats and will need to be at his best during Friday's visit to Betis.
AUGUST 16, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Alfonso Espino - Nets late equalizer against Levante Espino scored a goal off his lone shot, sent in three inaccurate crosses, made three interceptions and was shown a yellow card during Saturday's 1-1 draw against Levante.
Impact Espino was the hero for Cadiz here, scoring a dramatic equalizer deep into the stoppage time after the opposing defense failed to clear a cross from the right. The left back had some room to support the offense during this one, but will probably have to be more focused on the defensive end during Friday's visit to Betis.
AUGUST 16, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Alberto Perea - Out multiple months Perea could miss between one and two months after undergoing surgery on a meniscus in his knee, according to Estadio Deportivo via Radio Cadiz.
Impact Perea's injury hasn't been announced by his team, but this still isn't a positive sign one game into the season. Should this come to pass, someone new will get their chance as a backup option on the wings and Perea will hope to return in late-September or October.
AUGUST 16, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Jose Mari - Won't play Saturday Mari (muscular) isn't available for Saturday's match against Levante.
Impact Mari was already a doubt to play in this match and now his absence is confirmed. As a result, Tomas Alarcon could make his debut in the first match of the season against La Granota.
AUGUST 13, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Anthony Lozano - Ready for first match Lozano (muscular) made the squad list for Saturday's match against Levante.
Impact Lozano had taken a potential knock during a friendly late in the preseason but still takes a place on the opening roster. With Milutin Osmajic leading the club in preseason scoring, Lozano could be pushed onto the wing for their match against La Granota.
AUGUST 13, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Juan Cala - In squad list Cala (knee) made the squad list for Saturday's match against Levante.
Impact Cala wasn't very active during the preseason but making this list should at least confirm his availability for now. He scored three goals in 28 appearances last season.
AUGUST 13, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Santiago Arzamendia - Out for opener Arzamendia (muscular) will miss Saturday's match against Levante.
Impact Arzamendia suffered an injury in the final preseason friendly and evidently won't make his La Liga debut just yet. In his place, Pacha Espino could take his place on the left flank.
AUGUST 13, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Garrido - Out four months Garrido is expected to miss the next four months after undergoing surgery for chronic tendinosis on his knee.
Impact Garrido could easily be out until 2022 after a recurring injury became worse ahead of the new season. He only made seven starts from 23 appearances in the most recent campaign and may not have started too frequently, even as club captain.
AUGUST 10, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Víctor Chust - Joins Cadiz on loan Chust joined Cadiz on a season-long loan from Real Madrid on Tuesday. No option to buy exists in the contract.
Impact Chust made his first La Liga start last season and managed to keep a clean sheet, so we've gotten a small taste of what he can do in the first division already. With his temporary club, Chust adds further depth at center-back and should get plenty of chances to play, as fitness hasn't been a reliable asset early into Cadiz's return to the top flight.
AUGUST 10, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Anthony Lozano - Takes knock in friendly Lozano suffered an injury during Saturday's friendly against Burnley, according to Diario de Cadiz.
Impact Lozano had evidently been dealing with an issue for a couple of games and it's limited his ability to reach full fitness. Should he be unavailable for Saturday's friendly against Levante, someone new like Filip Malbasic would have to full the spot at forward or on the left wing based on his current role within the lineup.
AUGUST 9, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Santiago Arzamendia - Dealing with knock Arzamendia picked up a muscular issue during a friendly over the weekend and may not be ready for Saturday's match against Levante, according to Diario de Cadiz.
Impact Arzamendia noticed the injury before it became any worse and exited the friendly so at least he shouldn't be out for long. If he's unable to play in Saturday's match, Pacha Espino has a better shot of getting a starting spot early in the season.
AUGUST 9, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Jose Mari - Not expected for season opener Mari picked up a muscular injury in a friendly over the weekend and isn't expected to be ready for Saturday's match against Levante, according to Diario de Cadiz.
Impact Mari isn't expected to be out for long with this knock, but his status for the first La Liga match is certainly in doubt. Fortunately, there are a few options capable of taking his place, like Tomas Alarcon or Jon Garrido, for potential absences early in the season.
AUGUST 9, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Alvaro Jimenez - Tranfers to Getafe Jimenez transferred to Cadiz from Getafe on Monday. He's committed to a four-year contract with his new club.
Impact Jimenez logged four goals and three assists while with Albacete before their relegation from the second division and it was a solid enough tally to earn him another chance to play in La Liga. He'll help bolster the depth of the right wing at his next destination, giving Chucky Lozano the ability to focus on playing more centrally.
AUGUST 9, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Juan Cala - Still absent from friendlies Cala (knee) isn't available for Saturday's friendly against Burnley.
Impact Cala underwent knee surgery back in May and hasn't been able to return just yet. While he's out, Marcos Mauro and Fall Jimenez would be one pairing capable of filling up the minutes at center-back.
AUGUST 6, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Jeremías Ledesma - Concedes one against Spain Ledesma conceded one goal and made five saves during Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Spain.
Impact Ledesma didn't have the best of tournaments with four goals conceded in three matches, which contributed to their inability to advance past the group stage at the Olympics. He'll now return to Cadiz and look forward to another season as a top-flight starter.
JULY 28, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Martin Calderon - Signs with Cadiz Calderon joined Cadiz on a three-year contract after transferring from Real Madrid on Tuesday.
Impact Calderon spent last season on loan in the Portuguese top flight and never made an appearance for Real Madrid's first team. With his new club, he's already been promoted to the first team's preseason camp, and is the second midfield signing of the summer along with Tomas Alarcon.
JULY 27, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Jeremías Ledesma - Keeps clean sheet against Egypt Ledesma made two saves and kept a clean sheet in Sunday's 1-0 Olympics victory against Egypt.
Impact Ledesma kept his first Olympics clean sheet on Sunday after conceding twice in the opener. On Wednesday he will face Spain, which have scored one goal in two matches at this tournament.
JULY 25, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Jeremías Ledesma - Makes two saves in 2-0 loss Ledesma made two saves in Thursday's 2-0 loss to Australia.
Impact Ledesma had some saves but he could consider himself lucky as well after Australians hit the woodwork twice as well along with their two scores. The keeper however will surely look poised for a bounce back and a major candidate for a clean sheet in the next match against Egypt.
JULY 23, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Milutin Osmajic - Signs for Cadiz Osmajic joined Cadiz on a three-year contract during the offseason.
Impact Osmajic isn't far into his professional career and scored 13 times in 34 matches during his most recent campaign in the Montenegrin first division. He'll be another attacker that has more promise than payoff at the moment, but that could change in a team looking to improve in that area next season.
JULY 19, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Tomas Alarcon - Signs with Cadiz Alarcon signed with Cadiz from Chilean club O'Higgins on Sunday.
Impact Alarcon is a deep-lying midfielder who has scored eight professional goals over the past two seasons. Though his creative stats aren't nearly as emphasized with assists, his recent participation with the Chilean national team for Copa America is proof of his burgeoning talents. Additionally, his arrival could suggest that next season will see more attacking emphasis from Cadiz after mostly featuring a central-midfield often lacking in creative threats.
JUNE 13, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Varazdat Haroyan - Joins Cadiz Haroyan signed with Cadiz from FC Astana on Thursday. He's committed to a two-year contract with his new club.
Impact Haroyan, the captain of his national team, will attempt to make the step up to a tougher league after spending the first six years of his career in Eastern Europe. Given his standing with his country, it shouldn't be too difficult for Haroyan to carve out a nice role for himself on the Spanish coast, whether as a starter or regular off the bench.
MAY 27, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Carlos Akapo scores first La Liga goal as Cadiz end season with draw against Levante | Goal.com Carlos Akapo scored his first La Liga goal for Cadiz in their 2-2 draw against Levante on Friday night.
MAY 21, 2021 • GOAL.COM
David Gil - Concedes two in draw Gil conceded two goals and made two saves during Friday's 2-2 draw with Levante.
Impact Gil started the final three matches of the season and conceded eight goals without winning a single game. He only really played in these matches as safety in La Liga was already secured, so Conan Ledesma could take a break after being one of the best players of the season for this club. As long as Ledesma is still around, Gil is probably no more than a backup at best.
MAY 21, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Alberto Perea - Finishes season with assist Perea provided one assist from one chance created in 74 minutes of Friday's 2-2 draw with Levante.
Impact Perea only played in three of the final eight matches of the season but scored once and assisted on another when he did play. For someone who only made 16 starts in 27 appearances, Perea will hope to take some motivation from these performances and become more valuable next season, though the present playing style of his team isn't conducive to much offensive production.
