This will be a tough loss for the club, as they are already struggling in the attacking department and will now be without a forward for the first month and a half of the season. His last season was heavily hindered by injuries, so he will hope to avoid that this season with a clean return to play.

Running on grass Bakambu (hamstring) has returned to training on grass, according to his club.

Impact Bakambu made his first appearance on the training field this pre-season Wednesday, as he was viewed running on grass following his hamstring injury. This is positive news for the forward, although he still has some work to do before returning to play, with that likely not taking place until sometime in September or October.

Completes surgery Bakambu (hamstring) successfully underwent surgery, the club announced Tuesday.

Impact Bakambu is starting on track in his recovery process, as he has now completed surgery. He will remain at home while resting after surgery but will return to Betis to undergo his recovery process once ready. He will now look for his return around a month into the season amid no setbacks.

Impact This means Bakambu will not only miss the rest of the season, but preseason and the opening weeks of the 2024-25 campaign as well. Bakambu joined Betis on the deadline of the January transfer window and finished with no goals and just four shots (one on target) in four league appearances (two starts) with the club after transferring from Galatasaray.

Impact Bakambu could've scored the game-winning goal in the second half of Sunday's derby against Sevilla, but aside from missing the chance, he also suffered a muscular strain that will force him to miss, at least, a few games after leaving the game on a stretcher. It wouldn't be shocking if Bakambu doesn't play again this season.

Impact Bakambu returned to the bench Friday and was active off the bench. The forward has been struggling with a variety of injuries that have kept him sidelined for the majority of the past two months. He is fit once more but likely won't be rushed back into major minutes as he looks to stay fit for the closing stages of the season.

If he is selected for the team sheet, only expect him to earn a few minutes off the bench to test his legs.
