Romelu Lukaku - On bench in season finale Lukaku was an unused substitute in Sunday's 2-1 victory against Watford.

Impact Lukaku didn't live up to expectations after joining Chelsea from Inter in the summer, but with eight Premier League goals in 26 appearances (16 starts) plus an additional two scores in the Champions League, his season wasn't an abject failure either. The 29-year-old will be given more opportunities to succeed if for no other reason than the amount of money that has been invested in him doing so, but whether manager Thomas Tuchel can build a side around him that plays to his strengths and keep him in the starting lineup is a different question.

Hakim Ziyech - Takes two shots in win Ziyech took two shots on target and created two chances in Sunday's 2-1 victory against Watford.

Impact Ziyech started Chelsea's final two games of the campaign -- wracking nine shots (four on target) and four chances combined in that span -- but despite some important moments from the 29-year-old this season, five goals and five assists across 32 appearances (19 starts) in the Premier League and the Champions League, he's still mostly a backup option whether on the right wing or in attacking midfield.

Christian Pulisic - On bench in season finale Pulisic was an unused substitute in Sunday's victory against Watford.

Impact Pulisic recorded a combined eight goals and three assists across 29 appearances (17 starts) in the Premier League and Champions League, but his time at Chelsea continues to feel like one step forward and then one step back. Through mid-December he had only started in two league games thanks in large part to an ankle injury he picked up with the U.S. National Team in August, but even when healthy he struggled to get a consistent run of games in the team. The 23-year-old is at somewhat of a crossroads in his career with an upcoming World Cup and some controversy over his place in Chelsea's squad, but it seems like he still backs himself to break into a starring role with the club.

Mason Mount - Takes five shots in win Mount took five shots (one on target) and created two chances in Sunday's 2-1 victory against Watford. He also won one of four tackles in the match.

Impact Mount had his best season so far for Chelsea in 2021/22, recording a team-leading 11 goals and 10 assists in 32 Premier League appearances (27 starts), as well as one goal and two assists in seven Champions League games. He was pushed up into an attacking midfield role rather than central midfield more often this campaign, and he rewarded that decision with personal records in goal involvements, and the 23-year-old will be looking to do more of the same next season.

Saul Niguez - Takes three shots against Watford Niguez took three shots and created a chance in Sunday's 2-1 victory against Watford. He also made a block and won five of eight tackles in the match.

Impact Niguez made his fifth start of the campaign in the Premier League in Sunday's finale, and the 27-year-old was very much a peripheral figure during his loan season with Chelsea. He is set to return to Atletico Madrid -- who don't lack for midfield options themselves despite the summer departure of Hector Herrera -- for next season.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek - On bench in season finale Loftus-Cheek was an unused substitute in Sunday's 2-1 victory against Watford.

Impact Loftus-Cheek was perhaps more involved than many would have expected in his return to Chelsea this season, grabbing two assists in 24 Premier League appearances (13 starts). But with such a crowded midfield, he was often asked to fill in on the right wing rather than in the center of the park, and the 26-year-old will in all likelihood remain a backup option if he stays at Chelsea next season.

N'Golo Kante - Creates two chances in win Kante made two interceptions and created two chances in Sunday's 2-1 victory against Watford. He also won two of four tackles in the match.

Impact Kante never seemed to fully click this season for Chelsea, though he admittedly had to overcome a few spells of injury. He still finished with two goals and four assists in 26 Premier League appearances (21 starts), as well as six starts in the Champions League, but at 31 years old, he will hope this campaign's relative dip in performances was just a blip in form rather than early signs that he may be slowing down.

Jorginho - On bench in season finale Jorginho was an unused substitute in Sunday's 2-1 victory against Watford.

Impact Jorginho was once again the number one choice at the base of Chelsea's midfield this season with a combined eight goals -- most of them from the penalty spot, of course -- and four assists across 37 appearances (33 starts) in the Premier League and the Champions League, even if the campaign was a bit disappointing for the team as a whole.

Malang Sarr - Subs on in season finale Sarr subbed into Sunday's match against Watford in the 59th minute, and he created a chance in the 2-1 victory.

Impact Sarr was definitively a backup option in his first full campaign with Chelsea, keeping two clean sheets in a combined 10 appearances (seven starts) across the Premier League and the Champions League. The 23-year-old will want to keep earning opportunities to develop heading into next season.

He could force his way into Chelsea's starting lineup in central defense next season, especially if Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and possibly Cesar Azpilicueta all depart from the club in the summer.

Impact Azpilicueta ends the season with two goals, three assists and eight clean sheets across 36 appearances (32 starts) in both the Premier League and the Champions League, this time with a more even balance between central defense and right back/right wing back in large part due to Reece James' long-term hamstring injury in the second half of the campaign.

Andreas Christensen - Out against Watford Christensen (undisclosed) was not involved in Sunday's 2-1 victory against Watford.

Impact There was a bit of mystery surrounding Christensen's absences near the end of the season, but the 26-year-old kept nine clean sheets in 19 Premier League appearances (17 starts) this campaign, as well as four clean sheets in eight games in the Champions League. But since he is heavily linked with a move away from Chelsea in the summer, Trevoh Chalobah was more of a preferred option in the back-three down the stretch.

Impact Rudiger was Chelsea's best defender this campaign as he kept 14 clean sheets and scored three goals in 34 Premier League starts. After five seasons, 203 appearances in all competitions and four trophies -- including winning the Champions League in 2021 -- since joining from Roma in 2017, the 29-year-old is seemingly set to depart from West London in the summer.

Impact Silva's second season with Chelsea wasn't as successful as his first, but he still finished with three goals and 14 clean sheets across 41 appearances (36 starts) in the Premier League and Champions League. The 37-year-old might have to be relied upon even more next season however with fellow center backs Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta all potentially departing the club in the summer.

Kepa Arrizabalaga - On bench in season finale Arrizabalaga was an unused substitute in Sunday's 2-1 victory against Watford.

Impact Arrizabalaga ended the campaign with two clean sheets in four Premier League appearances, mostly while Edouard Mendy was gone in the African Cup of Nations in January, and he also played once in the Champions League group stage against Zenit. After four seasons with Chelsea, the last two as the backup goalkeeper, the 27-year-old will have to decide whether to stick with the club or to leave in search of more consistent minutes.
