Steven Moreira - Wins defender of the season Moreira ends the 2024 year making 25 starts in 29 appearances while winning MLS defender of the season.
Impact Moreira continues to be one of the league's top defender as he wins his first MLS defender of the season. He recorded two goals and three assists while totaling 46 clearances, 26 tackles with eight blocks and keeping four clean sheets. The defender will return for his second year of his two tear contract extension.

Impact Matan gave Columbus life Sunday as his corner kick in the 96th minute connected with Christian Ramirez and the pair tied the match at 2-2. However, Matan took Columbus' seventh penalty with the shootout tied 4-4, had his shot saved and then Red Bulls eliminated Columbus with the ensuing kick. It was a rough moment for Matan after being a major reason why Columbus forced penalties in the first place. Matan's season has now come to an end, and it was a slightly disappointing one. After starting 33 of 37 matches last season and recording 11 goal contributions, Matan started just 18 matches (30 total appearances) this season and scored four goals to go along with three assists.

Impact Arfsten was surprisingly left out of the starting XI Sunday but ultimately helped his side force a shootout. He was subbed onto the pitch in the 54th minute and less than a minute later scored the opening goal of the match off a Cucho Hernandez assist. However, Arfsten missed a crucial penalty kick in the shootout and he and the Crew were eliminated from the playoffs. He had a productive season with Columbus as he scored five goals and recorded five assists through 33 appearances (24 starts).

Impact This rules Amundsen out of Game 2 of the series against the Red Bulls on Sunday and probably out of Game 3 -- if it happens. Losing the defender is a huge blow for the Crew, meaning Sean Zawadzki should slot into central defense with Amundsen ruled out.

He will look to be ready for the Sunday trip to New Jersey, where Columbus enters the match with a 1-0 deficit.
