ImpactHerrera was one of the league's best midfielder during the 2023 season, starting 34 of the 35 matches played in MLS, averaging about 5.7 crosses, 3.3 corners and 2.2 shots per match. He had been playing the defensive midfield position in the 4-2-3-1, however with Houston starting the year with a 3-5-1-1, Herrera will likely play a more offensive role in the midfield, with Brooklyn Raines taking his spot in the lineup during his absence.
