Tate Schmitt - No longer injuredSchmitt (knee) has recovered from his injury after making the starting XI in Tuesday's Concacaf Champions Cup 2-1 loss to St. Louis.

ImpactSchmitt will now be an option for the first game of the season against Kansas City on Saturday, having finally recovered from a knee issue that caused him to miss almost all of last season. The defender should now be expected to start on opening day, as he started in all five contests when available in the previous campaign and was starting in his first game back Tuesday. He will now hope to avoid another long absence due to an injury, as he is yet to serve a full season as a regular starter and is in line for that this campaign.

Carlos Sebastian Ferreira Vidal - Exits earlyFerreira was forced off in the 23rd minute of Tuesday's 2-1 loss to St. Louis in the Concacaf Champions Cup due to an apparent injury.

ImpactFerreira looks to have picked up an injury just days before the season opener. This is a tough break for the forward, but he may not affect the club all that much, as he is not a regular starter and only appeared in 11 contests last season, with only two of those being starts. He will look to have a speedy recovery but most likely won't be an option for their first match of the season against Kansas City on Saturday, as just three days of recovery will probably not be enough.

Tate Schmitt - Back on fieldSchmitt (knee) has been playing with Houston during preseason as he is close to returning to the pitch, he said on the Bayou City Soccer podcast.

ImpactSchmitt said he is very close to returning, however is not expected to be available right away for the home opener against Sporting Kansas City. He missed almost the entire 2023 season with ACL surgery as he looks to return to full form for the new campaign. Once Schmitt is back, he is set to compete for the starting role with Franco Escobar.
