German soccer club Eintracht Frankfurt says its defender Aurèle Amenda needs surgery on an ankle injury suffered on his debut for Switzerland

Aurele Amenda - Set for surgery Amenda has suffered an injury to his Syndesmosis ligament and is expected to miss a solid portion of time after receiving surgery, according to his club.

Impact Amenda has received horrible news after suffering what was initially reported as a knee issue, as he will now need to receive surgery on what is actually an ankle injury after injuring his Syndesmosis ligament. This will lead to a hefty absence, likely missing well over 2 to three months, possibly even the rest of the season depending on his rehabilitation. Luckily for the club, this shouldn't affect much, as he has only started in two of his seven appearances, merely holding a rotational role.
