Brian Olivan - Leaves field injured
Olivan was forced off in the 18th minute of Saturday's 1-1 draw against Sevilla due to an apparent injury.
Impact
Olivan had to depart the field just before the 20-minute mark, suffering what appeared to be an injury. This could be a brutal loss for the club, as he has started in their past eight games. He was replaced by Carlos Romero, a likely replacement moving forward if he misses more time.

Impact
Gonzalez joins Espanyol to bolster their midfield after playing only two official games with Real Sociedad this season. He was developed in the Real Sociedad youth system and also spent time in the Deportivo Alaves youth academy. The player has experience in La Liga and made his debut in the Europa League too.

Carlos Romero - Available on bench
Romero (strain) is on the bench for Friday's game against Valladolid.
Impact
As expected, Romero will be an option on the bench for Espanyol. That said, his lack of stability in the XI limits his fantasy upside considerably.

ROTOWIRE
Carlos Romero - Expected to be available Saturday
Romero (strain) is expected to be in the squad for Friday's match against Valladolid, according to El 1900.
Impact
Romero took part in several training sessions throughout the week and was fully involved on Thursday, so he shouldn't have problems featuring Friday. Romero has made just one start since the beginning of December, however, so he shouldn't carry a lot of fantasy upside even if deemed available.

ROTOWIRE
Marash Kumbulla - Busy defensively in draw
Kumbulla had one shot on goal and made five clearances during Saturday's 1-1 draw against Leganes.
Impact
Kumbulla bounced back from the quiet performance at the previous game, forming a nice partnership with Leandro Cabrera to dominate opposing forwards for most of the contest. This has been a breakthrough campaign for the Roma loanee, who's tied for sixth among all La Liga players with 85 clearances over 17 starts.

ROTOWIRE
Jofre Carreras - Takes six shots in draw
Carreras had six shots (one on target), created two chances and suffered three fouls during Saturday's 1-1 draw against Leganes.
Impact
Carreras saw his scoreless streak reaching nine games but it wasn't for lack of trying as the attacker attempted more shots than he did in any previous games this season. He also created for teammates a little bit and used his skills to force the opposing defense to stop him with fouls. With two goals and three assists over 18 appearances this season, Carreras can still do better and his 13 shots over the last four starts suggest he's on the right course to become a fantasy factor.

Joan Garcia - Logs five saves in draw
Garcia made five saves and conceded one goal during Saturday's 1-1 draw against Leganes.
Impact
Garcia couldn't do much when Seydouba Cisse appeared completed unmarked in front of him to draw things level at 1-1 in the 14th minute but then had a superb performance during the rest of the game, especially in the second half. The goalkeeper had just one clean sheet and 16 saves over his last six games, but at the same time didn't allow multiple goals in any of them, which gives a little bit of optimism about the other numbers getting better.

ROTOWIRE
Alex Kral - Logs assist in draw
Kral made an assist, created three chances, made two interceptions and was shown a yellow card during Saturday's 1-1 draw against Leganes.
Impact
Kral used his head to assist Leandro Cabrera for the opening goal of the game in the 2nd minute and then kept showing his playmaking skills as his three chances created were a season high. Normally limited to defensive contributions when it takes to provide fantasy impact, the midfielder created multiple chances in two of his last three starts and more games like this could add another layer to his upside.

ROTOWIRE
Leandro Cabrera - Scores in draw
Cabrera scored a goal off two shots (one on target) and made one tackle, five clearances, one interception and one block during Saturday's 1-1 draw against Leganes.
Impact
Cabrera went up the field and used his head to open the scoring for Espanyol with just two minutes into the game and then had another solid performance at the heart of the defense, with his sixth consecutive outing with at least five clearances. One of La Liga's most reliable center-back for fantasy purposes when fully fit, Cabrera is inching closer to the top 10 in clearances despite having some games missed this season.

Carlos Romero - Game-time call for Saturday
Romero is a game-time call for Saturday's game against Leganes due to a muscular injury, manager Manolo Gonzalez told media Friday.
Impact
It's unclear when Romero picked up the injury, but his availability for the team's first game of January is in question. He opened the season as a starter but has been losing his role of late, as he's started in just one of Espanyol's last five games, including a game in which he was an unused sub.

Edu Exposito - Available after knee injury
Exposito played 15 minutes off the bench in the 1-0 loss to Las Palmas on Dec. 22 in what was his first appearance of the 2024-25 season.
Impact
Exposito finally made his debut off the bench after being an unused sub in three of Espanyol's four games between Nov. 30 and Dec. 18. He should add depth in midfield, but he's not expected to play a significant role in midfield going forward.

Pablo Ramon Parra - Signs with Espanyol
Ramon has signed a contract with Espanyol through 2028, the club announced. He joins on a free transfer from Real Madrid's Castilla.
Impact
Ramon spent last season on loan at CD Mirandes, where he had an impressive campaign. Espanyol had to wait until the winter transfer window to sign him, after he recovered from an injury that required surgery at the end of April. Ramon underwent a medical examination on Friday at the Corachan Clinic and will participate in specific rehabilitation work on the pitch at Dani Jarque Sports City on Saturday.

Leandro Cabrera - Logs six clearances in loss
Cabrera made one tackle and six clearances during Sunday's 1-0 loss against Las Palmas.
Impact
Cabrera had another solid performance at the heart of the defense but this wasn't enough to prevent another setback for his team. The center-back has been doing his part, though, with 31 clearances over his last five starts.
