Re-signs with Seattle Montero has signed a one-year contract with the Sounders with the option to extend for an additional year, the club announced Friday.

Impact Montero's previous contract option had been declined when Seattle's roster decisions were released a few weeks ago, but the 34-year-old has re-signed a new deal with the club through 2022 at least. He tallied seven goals and three assists in 30 MLS appearances (16 starts) last season, but the returns of Nicolas Lodeiro and Jordan Morris from long-term injuries means Montero will likely be utilized less frequently in attack this year.

Impact Montero set up second-half goals for Will Bruin and Leo Chu on Saturday as his side breezed past the Whitecaps and clinched a spot in the playoffs. He will look forward to next weekend's clash against the 12th-placed Dynamo, which have conceded 45 times in 29 MLS matches this season.

Secondary helper vs. Houston Montero provided one secondary assist on two chances created during Wednesday's 2-0 win over Houston.

Impact Montero grabbed his second secondary assist of the season during Wednesday's dominant win. The forward slid back into attacking midfield and looked comfortable in the different role. Montero will hope to stay on the pitch and in good form Sunday, against Minnesota.
