Jonathan Burkardt - Leaves with injury Friday Burkardt departed Friday's game against Monchengladbach with an injury in the 20th minute.

Impact The loss of Burkardt represents a huge loss for Mainz's attack, as the club's captain has five goals across eight appearances in 2024/25. Armindo Sieb replaced him, and further exams in the coming days will be needed to determine the severity of Burkardt's injury.

The team in front of him will limit his upside, and clean sheet chances, but he still has shown flashes of excellence, making the most of some tough matches.

It's unlikely he continues that attacking volume, moving forward, but this was an encouraging performance against a top opponent.

Impact Nebel may not have found much end product during Saturday's clash, but he had encouraging volume and got on the ball plenty even in a tough clash. It was always going to be brutal against Leipzig, but pretty much any opponent should be far more manageable for Mainz and Nebel.

With such solid volume against a top opponent there's some hope he could continue to impress against more beatable opposition. Lee still needs to produce more end product to be a consistent top option.
